I was a patient at Chelsea and Westminster following surgery and always felt that I was well looked after. I am very grateful for the care I received by everyone on my journey to recovery. I always felt that not only was my condition treated but as the person living with this condition was too. The nurses, HCAs and doctors were all great and always attended my needs with a happy face, at times going beyond their duty of care. The only issue I had was when I was attended to by agency nurses, where I felt that I was just a tick box. However luckily I only had minimal time under the care of an agency nurse. My overall visit to Chelsea and Westminster has made me appreciate our NHS so much more.

Appalling lack of professionalism. Utterly shambolic. Took a day off work to attend scheduled appointment. At the entrance, a temp gun was pointed at my head (i have a brain tumour) without any explanation of what was happenening, without gaining my consent and without confirming safety of use in brain tumour patients. Consent is required for ALL medical interventions. Then i was told my appointment had been cancelled - but no one bothered to tell me, they also could not provide an explanation for this. No explanation and no apology. Why do you think NHS time is more valuable than my time as a self employed person who loses a day's earnings to attend appointments? In this case I lost a day's earnings for nothing - yet if patients dont attend, they are thrown off the patient register I made a formal complaint on 6 Dec 21. As of 28 Feb 22, I am still waiting for a sunstantive response. In feb I was sent an illegible small print letter because the hospital breached the Equality Act by failing to make a reasonable adjustment and write to me in large print. I called and spoke to Louise on 1 Feb 22 who promised I would be sent the letter in large print so i could read it. Of course that never happened. She also gave me ONE DAYS notice of a new appointment which I could not make at such short notice. She claimed another appointment would be sent out but of course it never was. I tried to escalate via PHSO but conveniently they won't look at it until the hospital responds to me - and the hospital has chosen not to respond in a legible format. Disability Discrimination is unlawful, yet it is very prevalent in the NHS. My health is very fragile and I need to see my consultant urgently but have no way of doing so. Is it any wonder the NHS spends a fortune of taxpayer's money on lawsuits and discrimation claims every year?

I went to see Mr Abela because I had a huge stomach from pregnancy. I knew that I needed a tummy tuck. I went to see another plastic surgeon before Mr Abela and she said that I needed additional surgery, she mentioned that my stomach muscles were weak. She gave me Mr Abela details and I contacted him. From the first time I met him he was friendly and very informative, he knew exactly what was needed. I had the surgery and it’s been 3 months, and I feel great. I would definitely recommend Mr Abela. I would also like to say how wonderful and kind his secretary Natalie has been to me.

Annie Zunz ward - had an operation in August 2021 and had the misfortune to be a patient on this. Gynaecologists, physiotherapists, anaesthetists and catering staff all doing their utmost but the nursing care on this ward is non existent! Doctors write you up for medication, the nurses don't give it (told the doctors this and they were shocked and went to have a word). Don't give any medication at all - not even what they in their nursing wisdom think you should have - even when drug round is due unless you ask for it. Happily leave you unattended for the majority of the shift. Any nursing work that is done is done by the HCA staff not the nurses. If you have relatives visiting the nurses will happily abdicate all their duties to them. Not accompanied for first visit to toilet after surgery although still wobbly from anaesthetic. However they give you a bowl and tell you to fill it! Then when the bowl is full there is nowhere in the toilet to put it - they say 'just leave it in there'. I wasn't going to put other patients at risk of infection by doing that so promptly put the bowl on the lid of the toilet and rang the emergency alarm. Needless to sat they looked disappointed when they arrived to a bowl of urine and a patient who was conscious. The majority seem cheerful friendly ladies with a lovely manner but there is no actual nursing going on! Couple of other points - only two toilets for the entire ward and they were also shower rooms. More (separate cubicles) toilets definitely needed. Also one morning at breakfast the milk was sour and we got given it in our tea and cereal regardless! (This last not a criticism of the catering staff as I am sure if they raised this point their bosses would tell them to use it anyway).
