Charing Cross hospital breast unit is efficient and reassuring. They were very quick making appointments and follow up meetings. I met Mr Thiruchelvam at his clinic which I feel fortunate to have been placed under his care. Although transferring to private health cover I feel reassured to think that the NHS has Mr Thiruchelvam working with them and that many patients will benefit from his amazing care, experience and empathy that don’t have private health cover. I think the breast screening programme is crucial and thank goodness it is there for all women.

My experience with Charing Cross Hospital was second to none! I was recalled after a routine mammogram, had a few more tests and breast cancer was detected. I got my diagnosis on 7th October 2021 and had the cancer removed on 8th November 2021. I am so grateful for the speed that I was treated. During those four weeks leading up to my surgery, I had several procedures. More mammograms, biopsy's, an MRI and more. From beginning to end, I met such lovely people. Everyone from the reception staff, to the nurses, to the surgeon and Macmillan nurse, each professional and the ward staff were absolutely amazing. I had been told previously by a friend that Charing Cross was the best hospital, and I certainly saw this for myself. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My procedure undertake in early October 2021 in the Riverside Wing exceeded whatever expectations I might have had. The staff, facilities and care were excellent for my procedure and overnight stay. The Out-Patient Department is also up to my expectations as I see all the staff behaving and acting very professionally and being caring and helpful. Full marks and thanks to all!

I have been attending CX for the past 12 years and have received during this time the most professional treatment and care. For the past 10 years I have travelled up from Cornwall for my treatment trusting, without question, the care and attention received.

Overall, Charing Cross is a very good hospital. I had a bad experience at the A&E, where I was told I am not ill enough and should wait for my wound to get infected before I can see a doctor. I spent 40 minutes speaking to a range of nurses and support staff, before seeing a doctor for 5 minutes and getting the treatment I needed. The triage system is, in my view, a complete waste of time and resources. If the small army of triage nurses was replaced by one or two doctors, patients were seen first come first served, and the waiting times were announced on a clearly visible panel in the waiting room, all patients would be seen faster by the specialist they need to see, rather than waste time talking to people whose only job seems to be to persuade patients they should suffer at home and come back when their condition is much worse and requires much more time and much more money to be treated. Focus on prevention is completely lacking, which is an NHS-wide problem, not just at Charing Cross.

Very, very happy with my experience at Charing Cross. I was seen rapidly, and regularly, in Covid-safe conditions, and the whole team were caring and professional. My only quibble (with the receipt of timely information) is that I was never able to get emails regarding appointments. I would receive a text message, but would always have to chase for the follow-up email. The hospital had my email address, so not sure what the problem was. It's only a minor thing, but could have done without it at an already stressful time. However, the quality of care - which is what matters, obviously - was exceptional.
