Whilst I was waiting for the investigation I learned from overhearing the staff discuss the rotas and numerous changes that needed to be made that a member of staff (and I do know their name but don't feel it is appropriate to repeat it here) needed their MRI for BOS and pelvis to be rearranged because she had only been allocated a 30 minute slot and it would take an hour. There was also a heated discussion between the Manager and a doctor on a ward about the safety of a patient needing a head scan as he was needing to be sedated and he was already taking methadone. If it went past 8 pm there would not be enough members of staff in the department to deal with the patient safely. These are just two of the conversations I heard in the reception that night. Multiple patients were rung to have their MRI appointments changed. If staff need to ring patients or discuss patients with other members of staff then the empty office could have been used instead of doing it in front of members of the public in the waiting room. I would be horrified to think I was being talked about in that manner with NO confidentiality attached at all. With the latest GDPR guidance I would have thought that some of this would breach ICO guidance It makes me wary of attending that hospital department again
