I attended this hospital for the first time today with respect to a long standing problem I have had with UTI/prostrate./water works.
I was completely overwhelmed with the attention, kindness and efficiency of all the staff not forgetting the very comprehensive investigations by the doctor - Angela (sorry don't know the full name)
The experience was absolutely first class, I could not have wished for better attention.
One hears so many complaints about the NHS these days but as far as my experience today at Ayr University Hospital there is no justification whatsoever to complain about anything. I highly recommend this hospital. Thank you to everyone who attended to me.
I was taken to crosshouse hospital on Tuesday 19 December with broken ankle. Was told I would be going into surgery next day but of course that didn’t happen. Operation finally on the 23rd December by Mr Peter Young (Orthopaedics) from Ayr hospital. Left with pain killers which told me were for 28 days but some of them I only had enough for 12.5 days so someone can’t count. Was in lot of pain and was looking forward to Dr appointment at crosshouse hospital on the 18th January. That was when I got my stitches out which was a nightmare as that was left way too long and was told I should not be there as I should have been at Ayr hospital. The consultant told me to contact my local GP for more pain killers but they could not oblige as my discharge letter from hospital states not to continue medication from GP. Had been attending physiotherapy which was going well the got told I should not be at physio yet as my foot was not weight bearing. I then got appointment for Ayr hospital for 5th of March and it’s as if they could not wait to get you out but was told THEY would contact physiotherapist to get me back on track. Needless to say I have not heard anything since. So all in all the aftercare is an absolute disgrace.
Was treated by Dr Carl Williams who provided superb care and attention. He kept us fully informed on treatment provided throughout the night. We had to wait a fair while for blood test results and Carl kept us fully informed during the wait. Lovely caring guy.
I have attended the eye clinic day surgery department twice for eye injections. Have a third in four weeks time. I have found all the staff to be professional, caring, gentle, patient and with a good sense of humour. Many, many thanks to you all.
I attended Ayr Hospital Day surgery for a procedure, then to station 3. June 10th 2021
I would like to thank all the Staff for the way they treated me with such care and devotion to duty, I felt at ease all the time. First class.
I was in Ayr Hospital this morning for tests at Section H and the nurse that looked after me was exceptional. If I remember correctly, her name was Tricia. The NHS is special and it’s staff like her who make it that way so thank you all.
I am so impresssed with this hospital...I recently moved from London and there is no comparison ! The staff here are kind, professional and I cannot fault anything . I have been a nurse / midwife for over 30 years ....and have never encountered such a lovely team of people .
I attended University Hospital Ayr as a day patient on the 22nd March at Mr Hollins Clinic. I can't speak highly enough of the care I received on the day of my operation and the clinics I attended before my operation. All the staff I met were very polite and considerate to me . I was very nervous and they certainly put me at ease. Many thanks for all your care and attention it was greatly appreciated.
My 89 yr old mum received Palliative Care in Station 16 Ayr Hospital. She had advanced Dementia and Sepsis. She could not have been better looked after or had a better team. They constantly looked after her needs. She was always comfortable and never in pain. Each and everyone of them professional and respectful. Their compassion and consideration was first class. To mum and to us as a family. We do not live locally and they gave us a room with comfortable couches and an en suite shower room / toilet. Although I don't think mum had much awareness she had her own bright room with a nice view.We will never forget any of the staff and will always be grateful to them. We knew mum was dying and they were such a comfort to us. I wish them all well. Mattie Boland my mum died on 13th May 2016. She was a wonderful mum and I miss her very much. The staff all approached me with hugs and condolences. God Bless them all. With much gratitude and warmest wishes Anne Marti, half an orphan. xxx.
Had appointment with Mr Nair in urology today which i had waited months for. I was extremely disappointed in his attitude towards myself, my treatment and my opinion. I felt humiliated by the speed in which my consultation was carried out. Reception and nursing staff all conducted themselves in a professional and pleasant manner which makes it all the more incredible that the only aspect of this hospital which failed to impress was the consultant hinself. Ayr hospital looks impressive, has an excellent standard of nursing and care therefore its upsetting that my opinion has been tarnished by Mr Nairs treatment of myself.
