Addenbrookes hospital was one of the best hospitals I've ever been to. Having a hospital appointment can be daunting, especially if you've never been to that particular hospital before. The appointment letter told me the best place to park and parking was easier than expected. The people at the outpatients reception were happy to point me in the right direction to the department I needed to be in. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. I had to have bloods and x-rays, and everything ran like clockwork. I did not have to wait long. The doctor who saw me sent me off for bloods and x-rays then saw me later that morning to get the results rather than having to come back a different day. The longest wait I had was for the pharmacy but they were happy to let me go and have something to eat then come back later. I have to pop in to the clinic to collect a sharps bin for my injections from time to time but again the nurse who swaps it over for me is really helpful. The app is really helpful as it lets me get in touch when I need to for example if I have a question.
An amazing hospital that looked after me so well, all the nurses and staff on Neuro and DR Dan Brown who saved my life with surgery
What an amazing experience I had whilst staying at Addenbrookes for 9 weeks after major surgery.
The staff were all lovely and helpful and looked after me very well and the nurses and doctors and surgeons kept me informed throughout my stay.
Letters and followup appointments were all very prompt.
The whole hospital service was very good alround.
The care i recieved here was superb.
Happy with the staff and treatment provided
Every single member of staff was kind, caring, empathetic and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and I need up enjoying their company despite what they put me through LOL. From the cleaners to the surgeons their commitment under terrible circumstances was exemplary and I can only be thankful it was there I was sent for my treatment.
If my family or I am ever unfortunate enough to need medical care, and they/I am given a choice of hospital, I will ask to please not be referred to Addenbrookes. I hope that I would then be treated by a physician whose motivation is to help a patient with the symptoms they actually have rather, than someone who appears to be more interested in shoehorning symptoms into a diagnosis (ignoring any symptoms/lack of symptoms or test results that would not support that diagnosis), to benefit their research careers. Also, be warned: if you ask 'why' your appointment will end promptly and your GP will be sent a letter advising them you declined treatment and will be discharged. I would not touch the rheumatology department at Addenbrookes with a barge pole.
In addition to my own issue, the week previously I delivered a neighbour to A & E as a relatively urgent case. On both occasions we were treated promptly and with excellent follow up care and investigations and treatment.
I would like to express my deep gratitide to the two anaesthetists who took such good care of me during my surgery on 20 July 2022. I had an unexpected severe reaction to one of the anaesthetics and went into anaphylactic shock. Despite this i came to no harm, they dealt with the situation and the operation could go ahead.
I cannot thank them enough.
I am autistic
When I attended the pre surgery assessment place the staff made no adjustments for autism despite being told numerous times by me and a family member , not allowed anyone in for communication help , left to wait in crowded area for an hour , left in tears , had meltdown on the floor in tears autistic meltdown made to feel horrible , uncared for and disability discrimination
