I have always had nothing but the best to say about this surgery, the GP's and the medical team involved in my care. I was always known by the doctor, and felt that I was involved in my medical treatment. However, as time has moved on, so has technology and our response to it. The surgery now offers telephone appointments, if one is fortunate enough to be placed on the list by calling at 8.30 am. If one misses this, there is nothing available that day. I find this extremely disconcerting, because one is expected to be working like clockwork. People have individual needs, and I feel this service, whilst having it's benefits is overlooking the fact that there are those of us who need to see a doctor on a face to face appointment, without being made to go through the rigmarole, of having to answer a receptionist about the reason I am calling doctor! I understand that the surgery is now growing, and that the team might not know the patient they are communicating with by phone. I feel that one is not being looked at holistically, but rather as an unfamiliar entity. It saddens me that I feel this way, because I have always been someone who looks at life pragmatically, and do not like to unduly complain. I have no individual complaints, but feel this is an overall issue that needs to be looked at.
