Receptionist was very rude and condescending, told me I could not request an appointment with a particular GP as they were not my registered GP . With all respect I can request an appointment with any GP the receptionist needs to realise THEY are not in charge . As a nurse who was a practice nurse for over ten years I know what I am saying . If this is the practice protocol then it would seem the practice manager needs to reassess the role

Suggested improvements
Make your receptionists realise they are not responsible for denying people their requests

The doctors at this surgery are professional and helpful, but are totally let down by the dispensary staff who frequently lose, misplace, missend prescriptions, and on a couple of occasions ordered a completely different item to the one I requested by phone message! One of the dispensary staff in particular actually seems to have had a personal hatred for me from day one. I believe it was her who misordered my prescription.

Suggested improvements
The staff who are the first point of contact, although the receptionists have improved lately, are cold, and as in the person above seem to hold some inexplicable personal hatred which is unbecoming in a professional.

Recently enquired what vaccines I would require for a trip to Australia and the practice nurse advised accordingly. I made the appointment a few days later. On arrival to Robinhoodsbay surgery I was greeted by a lovely receptionist (Linda) and she told me to go straight through to see the nurse. What prompt service! Vaccination given by by Elaine which was painless and quick. Thank you .

I was quite annoyed after leaving the surgery this week. I came for some blood tests and when I was called into the room the nurse was busy gossiping to someone in the next room. When I sat down and took my coat off to get settled for my blood tests ( which I don’t like having done as it is ) the nurse in the next room starting singing quite stupidly. I made a bit of a joke about it but to be honest it was quite disruptive. The nurse taking my blood then had to get up and shut the door. Eventually when she managed to get the needle in my arm another nurse came barging through the door saying ‘ hiyaaaaaaa’ obviously not realising there was a patient in. Again this was disruptive and as I said I don’t enjoy have blood tests done anyway. I have to say I found the service really disappointing and feel Whitby Group Practice very unprofessional. I don’t like complaining but felt the need to on this occasion.

Visited Dr Charlotte Stevenson on Monday 8th October with a long standing skin problem. Within a very short period of time, Dr Stevenson, with the assistance of a colleague, diagnosed the problem and prescribed medication that more or less had an immediate positive effect. After nearly two years I am now clear. I am very grateful to Dr Stevenson, and her colleague, for their swift and professional attention.
