I went today as antibiotics hadn’t worked on my uti the receptionist I dealt with was so kind and understood my discomfort she went to the doctor personally and got my prescription can’t thank her enough and the doctor I dint know her name but incredible thank you
I have Always had excellent care with the doctors and nurses, receptionists are very polite and helpful, and I can not fault wey family practice at all.
I have been with the practice for 50 years but sadly it has gone downhill over the last few years and more so since Covid. The ability to book appointments online or on Patient Access has gone and you have to phone and wait ages for it to be answered. This wastes everyone's time, including the receptionists, and I can see no logic to it. The practice no longer puts the convenience of its patients first as was the case in the past when I would have given it 5*. I have had 2 consultations in the past year that were not adequate. The first involved a problem that needed an examination and some advice but I got neither. He rushed the appointment and didn't engage with me at all despite knowing me well. I was forced to see a private GP to undertake what my GP should have done, which I could ill afford. No-one should be put in the position of having to see a private GP due to the inadequacy of an NHS GP. The second unsatisfactory consultation involved chronic insomnia of many years, which is having a huge impact on my life. This was dismissed as something I had to put up with. No request for details, what I had done to help myself, suggestions or offer of help. I will have to try another GP in the practice for help but shouldn't have to do so. I don't visit a GP unnecessarily, only when I have a genuine problem with my health that I am unable to deal with myself, especially now when GPs are under so much pressure. There are problems with communication too. I received a text asking me to go in for a blood test due to medication I am on, whereas the medication requires a 6 month blood pressure reading taken not a blood test, as confirmed by my GP. I haven't received a request for my blood pressure to be taken since 2020! Happy to do myself and submit the readings but the machine is out of order more often than not. Website is not kept up to date, is contradictory and sends you round in circles.
I am a lady of 73 and I went to see one of the doctors last Thursday because my left leg was very swollen and painful and a ring of red patches appeared. They thought it might be DVT which is a serious condition and they did blood and urine yests which were normal. The doctor said she referred for a scan and have me blood thinner tablets. I was waiting for an appointment and today I contacted the hospital after waiting for about half an hour I was told that they have spoken to a doctor at the practice and told them that they are no longer doing that procedure. I rang the practice today and a doctor range back and said I need to go to A & E. On the 11th they were told and today is 18th. I was not contacted and asked to go to A & E and they just left it. If I didn't contact them today it would have been just left. I am extremely unhappy about their care and I would call it gross negligence on their part. I am also type2 diabetic.
I rang to get an appointment but was quizzed by the receptionist about my medical history, how unprofessional.
She asked me to send a photograph of my issue to the surgery but no reply from them.
Have been a patient with them for 30 years but am appalled at lack of care/respect.
