I would not recommend this surgery at all. I have only had 3 appointments, 1 for myself and 2 for my children and i have been treated rudly and felt like they had no time for care.

The receptionists are all very helpful and polite. I always get an appointment when I need it. Both doctors are very caring and are approachable

I recently saw the doctor as I was having problems with severe earache and also had strained my left shoulder. I was prescribed eardrops and ointment for my shoulder. I went to both Knights chemist and Boots chemist in West Heath and was told both of these items were obsolete. I then made another appointment with the doctor and was recommended alternative eardrops and ointment. I was able to get the ointment from the chemists but was told that the 2nd prescription for the eardrops was also obsolete. During the night I used the ointment and straightaway felt sick and passed out on checking the ointment I found it was not suitable for Asthma sufferers. I then went back to the doctors and got another prescription for the eardrops and ointment. We were able this time to get the eardrops but again was told the ointment was no longer available. I find it disappointing that the chemist and the doctors surgery cannot work together regarding what remedies are still available.

Response from West Heath Primary Care Centre

Thank you for your feedback which we very much value in order to improve our patients experience at the surgery. The clinical system that the surgery uses is regularly updated to inform the doctors when a drug has been discontinued. However, if the drug has not been discontinued but is 'out of stock' for a long time, this will not show up on the system. The issue of communication between chemists and doctors regarding 'out of stock' medications has recently been discussed with our Medicines Optimisation Pharmacist who is linked to our practice and a number of local practices also. It has been agreed that an 'out of stock' list will be sent to practices on a regular basis to keep practices up to date. This way, the doctor can then issue an alternative medicine or contact the pharmacist to discuss the alternatives based on product availability. We hope that this will help to prevent the problems that you have experienced in the future. Thank you again for your feedback.

All the receptionists are very helpful and polite. Can be a bit difficult to get an appointment on the same day now as more people have moved into the area due to new housing developments. However the receptionists will always do their best to fit you in if you really need to see a doctor that day. As the patient volume has increased maybe looking at adding another doctor to the practice if not for all surgery times then maybe 2/3 days a week.
