The doctor was very helpful and so understanding of what was wrong with me as well and very helpful with the treatment he had given me and the tests he had done for me
The booking system for this surgery is quite absurb. They release morning and afternoon appointments at 8.45am and 1.45pm (I believe). I always call at precisely 8.45am in hopes of getting an appointment but in the mornings the number is either always "user busy" or you get a message saying the surgery isn't open. I will be trying to call for up to half an hour only to be told when I finally get through that the morning appointments have all gone and although the receptionists aren't rude, they are very short and not very helpful. For example, when I was told the morning appointments had all gone (despite trying to get through since 8.45am), the receptionist then asked if I could make it to the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, and when I asked whether they take regular GP appointments, she hung up on me.
On the other hand the doctors I have met are all great and have all been lovely and helpful. I just don't know why they have this ridiculous booking system in place.
Anyone who wants to make an appointment has to phone the surgery either at 8:45 am or 1:45 pm Monday - Friday. Then of cause when you phone the line is always busy. Sometimes I spent nearly half an hour on the phone trying to make an appointment but with no success. If you phone exactly at 8:45 am (or 1:45 pm) you will find a voice message saying they are closed and you are suggested to make a call at 8:45 am (or 1:45 pm); this voice message won't disappear till about 8:50 am (1:50 pm). I guess the reason is that - I found out that the clock on the reception wall is actually about 4-5 minutes late.
I tried to make an appointment with a specific GP yesterday morning and was lucky to get hold of the reception. But I was told to call again at 1:45 pm today if I wanted to see that GP. I then started to phone the reception since 1:49 pm today. The line was automatically cut off for my calls made in the first 4-5 minutes without being getting through. Then the line became busy all the time. I eventually gave up the calls at 2:10 pm but cycled to the reception within a few minutes for making an appointment in person. The lady at the reception was polite. She told me that the next available appointment with that specific GP would be the next week. I asked what about an appointment sooner with any GP; the answer was to call for an appointment either at 8:45 am or 1:45 pm.
Just thought the booking system is crazy!
