I have always received great service from this surgery, so I was quite shocked at the negative remarks. I have never had a problem getting an appointment. I find the booking online system to be very good if you have to book yourself in for a review or blood test regularly, and to order repeat prescriptions. I have always found staff at the surgery to be kind and friendly. Sometime times it’s hard to get appointments for non urgent cases at short notice, but unless it is an emergency but that is only to be expected as our local communities grow with additional housing. The good things about this surgery is that you don’t have to make an appt just to get advice, you can request a call from the Dr or nurse. You can also ring the NHS helpline 111. There are some minor problems that the nurses can deal with, and although people often resent the receptionist asking questions, it’s only because they may be able to refer you to a nurse and get you sorted quicker, which leaves the Drs free to deal with more serious problems.

The surgery staff are not child friendly and always make parents feel like we are wasting the surgerys time. Children are vulnerable and for those children that cannot communicate how they are we need another opinion and a check up. When I call for an appointment I first have to go through what seems like a high security check. When my 69year old dad called for an apointment he received it with a cheerful sound on the phone from the nurse. Half an hour earlier he had received a cold response for an appointment for my daughter who was not yet 1years old. This same nurse told me a two years ago that my job was to stay up all night with my son who was sick as this was what mothers do. I believe that this was not the correct response to a worried mother who had already been up with her son and could not get his temperature down for 3days! The surgery has been great to my dad only and not for families. So if one is over 60 then I suppose it is good surgery. I keep hoping it will get better but it doesn't. I took my son's stool sample to the surgery today following a very bad case of food poisoning over the weekend only for the receptionist to tell me with a lomg face, that i had missed the deadline. She had nowhere to store them but that she could give me a new pot to put more stool in for tomorrows tomorrows collection. I explained that he had only just provided us this one half an hour before i got to the surgery. He had not had diarrhae since yesterday 1pm and that we didnt know when he would go again. The nurse then convinced the receptionist thatvthey could find somewhere to store it till tomorrows pick up. There has only been one person who has been friendly, helpful and showed empathy and kindness and that was the female irish doctor. Everyone else seems fed up and have no more patience for patients! Improving standards: well a change of facial expressions would be a good start. Less hostile fed up looking ones would be brilliant! I know time is precious but a different kinder tone of voice might produce less hostility unless the aim is to provoke anger and have the phone slammed down within seconds of phoning?! I will be changing surgerys.
