Getting an appointment is hard enough, being told to wait nearly a month is a pain. Upon receiving an appointment, I felt as if nothing was achieved. I have had numerous appointments for several months regarding the same issues, and yet still no resolution. For my own piece of mind, I wanted a blood test to be done to ensure there was nothing underlying as I know myself that my body is not 100%. I was told this was not suitable and I did not require one. The practitioner provided me with an antibiotic, that does not agree with me that I have had a couple of times before, even though this wasn’t mentioned it was still provided to me. Only for me to return with a fever and decline with my issue instead of improvement!
I’ve never had an issue getting an appointment for myself or my son and when we are seen all staff and doctors are always really helpful and reassuring especially being a first time Mum so probably over worry about everything.
Having complained about a back pain which was much higher than my normal Back pain over and over again since Dr Walker retired. I was eventually referred to a pain clinic. These referrals kept being refused again and again. I rang the surgery to ask about veiwing my notes eventually and was asked why. I gave a rather curt reply about not being helped with pain for a very long time. I then recieved an appointment at Bristol Southmead Pain Clinic within two days. I had complained about the fact that all I was offered for my inability to sleep was Citalopram for depression. I kept saying Im tired all the time as a result of pain, when I tried to sleep and had cut my days down at work only now working three days. I was still falling asleep at junctions, traffic lights etc and was stopped driving by Dr Mc Grath. I work on a self employed commission only basis and had cut down to just three days work as I was so exhausted however, this is not enough to cover my Self employed costs and give me a good income. I therefore ended up with no income at all. Nobody seemed to worry that I was still waiting for this pain to be investigated. Before Dr Walker retired I had some issues whilst at work after climbing stairs and was so breathless I couldn't hold a conversation. Attending a first appointment at the RUH, I was told I would be kept in due to my heart rate. I underwent many tests and had a monitor fitted at the R.U.H. and was referred to ST Bartholomews London.I underwent three days of tests. On the 9th November 2017 Dr Costas O'Mahoney rang me at home and an URGENT referral was made for suspected Pancreatic Cancer. The GP surgery told me that my case had been triaged and that they were going straight for a scope at RUH. Nothing happened for 5 WHOLE WEEKS. When I rang nobody knew of the scope procedure and all I had was an outpatient appointment with Dr Farrant in Gastroenterology. He was not overly concerned though he had not viewed the PET scan from London, he had his reservations and ordered an MRI scan promptly changing this to a CT scan on the 19th Dec after viewing the PET scan. THIS WAS THE FIRST INVESTIGATIVE TREATMENT IN FIVE WEEKS OF AN URGENT REFERRAL`!!!! I was then sent to see the wrong Dr Farrant, though I was given the diagnosis of Pancreatic cancer following his viewing of the PET scan and the CT scan Following two biopsy procedures I was finally told that this is inoperable by Mr Pope who is a highly respectable surgeon. I have always worked and am sad that my life is now to be cut short and my two daughters and three grandchildren will be left without a mother / Grandmother. If only this Back Pain was investigated earlier this maybe a different story!!! I had been given appointments with different GP's too. I think it is always good to have continuity of care in a GP Practice and not to be seeing a different doctor on each visit. I was working in Tunbridge wells and got stuck in traffic so was unable to make an appointment. My partner requested that he should go and speak with the doctors so they could understand my pain better. He was ordered out of the practic with a letter threatening to drop him from the Practice. John has been going to this practice for many years. He, like me was frustrated at the system. I should have shouted louder, sooner, If only I could!!! I will do everything in my power to fight this but Mr Pope appears to be certain that I am inoperable and is not wishing to give false hope with any shrinkage from Chemo/radiotherapy, I hope and pray that things change to enable surgery but it's a long shot. Don't let this happen to you!

I am so very grateful for Dr Barry McGrath and the team being there today - I have spent well over 2 weeks thinking I could sort my self out and spent at least 5 hellish days and nights trying to so. I really did not want to bother the surgery again but I new I was just getting worse all the time. I was treated with the utmost respect in a no nonesense way. I wish I had sorted it sooner. Seen practitioner, 3 days later no improvement, ask to see a doctor. Told I can't see a doctor, can only see practitioner again. No examination, what's the point , I'd rather suffer.
I am sorry to hear you are not happy with the treatment you have received. I can assure you that the practice takes all complaints seriously. I can also assure you that our Nurse Practitioners are highly qualified, skilled and expereinced. Our same day provision is now with Nurse Practitioners to help us to cope with and manage daily demand. The Nurse Practitioners have the support of a GP each day for more complex cases as and when required.
