Up until recently my experience of the surgery and staff has been very positive. However it is becoming increasingly difficult to get a GP appointment. Many are offered up to 3/4 weeks away. An earlier one on the day is sometimes possible if you start ringing from 8.25am.Often however you get a continuous engaged tone and when finally you get through the appointments for that day are gone. The other option is to get to the surgery by 8.15 am - not easy if you are elderly and/or infirm. The drop in blood test service used to be very efficient and convenient. Now the waiting time can be up to 50 minutes. Again for those unwell and in pain this is not helpful. I have asked reception staff about the possibility of a booked appointment for a family member who was ill, in pain and couldn't sit for as long as it was taking and was told the surgery don't do bookings for blood tests. I also enquired as to a better time to drop in but they were unable to offer this. I am not complaining about the reception staff who are usually very helpful but rather this seemingly rigid practice guideline.
