Danbury Medical Centre, although a very nice new building is not the friendly place it once was when the surgery was housed in the old building. Everyone was available there and staff seemed happy, but not now, the staff always seem rushed and in a hurry to get somewhere and the smiles have gone. Everyone is in their office and it is difficult to find anyone, also a lot of the offices seem to be empty. As with new swanky premises, it has become a very impersonal surgery and it has changed but not for the better. There is now only one receptionist in the reception area instead of the two and it is not easy to get information apart from what is on the website. There are a couple of very good doctors but it is difficult to get an appointment with them and often one has to wait for one/two weeks to get an appointment with any doctor and it makes me wonder why the surgery is still accepting new patients. The nurses and reception staff are excellent. The doctors are very polite and professional but they seem unable to deal with more than one problem/condition at a time, bloods are taken but it is difficult to discuss the results with the doctors because they seem to have no time, one is told, "everything is normal," but then you learn from the receptionist that some of the test results are not normal but no one has told you and oh, there is a reluctance to refer one to a hospital doctor/consultant. Sadly, some of us still have to stay with this Practice because there is no alternative since this is the only GP practice in the village.

This doctors' surgery has gone down hill quite dramatically recently. If I get through on the phone, it has become increasingly difficult to get an appointment on the day of calling and booking ahead seems virtually impossible too. The reception staff are always rude and obstructive. They ask for your condition and then they decide who you can and can't see. If I do get an appointment, it's nearly always with a nurse practitioner, who is also rude and disinterested. I feel most of the appointment time is spent with them looking at the computer screen or rushing me out the door. Prescription forms have been lost and, worse still, the wrong drugs included on a repeat prescription - not once but twice!

Sitting here waiting for my appointment which should have been over half an hour ago. Have also noted that Reception are asking patients to tell them why they want an appointment before booking them in now so people have to tell the waiting room, write it down or go into a separate corridor. I think you need to separate all us patients in the waiting room from reception properly so people can privately discuss if this is now the case.

I find it more and more difficult to phone for an appointment as I am usually on hold, at my expense, for longer than 10 mins! I also find it totally unacceptable for a receptionist to ask me what the problem is - this is between me and the doctor. I recently phoned for blood results after a thyroid test and was told by the practice manager that all was okay which meant that my medication was working - I am not on any medication! How could she possibly give me this advice! I also find the turnaround of doctors unacceptable. I have been a patient since 1994 and the practice has changed so much
