The experience of trying to get an appointment is dreadful for someone with mental health issues who needs to see a specific doctor if possible. The recent receptionists sound bored and fed up which may be my mind playing tricks but I don’t think so.

Suggested improvements
The doctors are great. However, whilst I appreciate that the receptionists are busy, there are one or two who are very often unfriendly and unhelpful especially to people who can’t argue with them. I have a specific example where I wanted to step in but it wasn’t my place to.

A great surgery with some very caring staff. Despite the pressures from the council put on the surgery by the new builds they are doing an amazing job. I can not believe the pressure this surgery is under and despite all their amazing efforts to abolish the queue and revamp the reception they have no help from CSH the other community provider who shares this building. Further more NHS property services who own this building are now increasing the doctors service charge by over 500% which is a disgrace.

Sunbury Health Centre, receive a lot of complaints, mainly about appointment times, and I do agree to some extent, but I have to say that they listened to patients' concerns, made changes and considering they are under pressure to supply a service to such a large number of patients, I think they do a marvellous job. It is very interesting to see which doctors always have appointments available and which ones are always booked up... I need say no more! I would recommend the surgery and I'm grateful to all concerned.

It took me 4 attempts to get an appointment, either using the automated system, visiting the surgery, or phoning the reception. Started one Tuesday and finally got the appointment a week later, having run out of medication in the meantime. It meant I had to take time off work in the mornings to queue up only to be told there was nothing available on the day. On the automated system, requesting the day appointment at 7.30am, the system advised nothing was available, I then visited the surgery for 8am and got one but was asked why I needed to see a Dr. Why would the receptionist be asking me why I want to see a GP - is reception now diagnosing whether or not you are unwell enough to see somebody? I have had the experience of requesting a female Dr, but when I arrived, not only was the time different, but it was a male Dr. Generally though when I do get an appointment the Dr is good, but it does depend on who you see. The practice has gone down hill considerably in the past 6 years since moving to the area. Very disappointing.

I have been with this surgery for around 7 years and it has always been really hard to get an appointment - if you need to see a doctor it is normally 2 weeks away. The surgery is always running late. Last year they prescribed me Penicillin although I am allergic, luckily enough for me I always read up on the pill before I take them, they claim it wasn't on my file, but its been on my file since I was a baby!! Last week I needed to have staples removed after surgery, I couldn't get an appointment so they told me to sit and wait down Ashford walk in center. I was sitting there for 3 hours just to get some staples removed!! This morning I went to my appointment that was made for me following a call back from a doctor as my hand has been numb since last Wednesday, so today is day 6, got to the surgery only to find out they got the dates wrong and they wouldn't see me. I explained I couldn't come back later and to be honest as it was their mess up I would have expected them to slip me in as it would have only been five minutes. I left the surgery frustrated and cried in my car and this is the last straw with with surgery. I will be seeking a new surgery. but currently walking around with a numb hand and don't know what to do.
