I managed to secure an emergency appointment with Doctor Ravi Shankar last Friday and I must say it was wonderful to see "my family GP" who has been a great and honest doctor my whole adult life, who has treated me , my parents , my husband and children. He was a breath of fresh air and apparently a dying breed!. . I have not seen him at the surgery for several years as I dont work locally, but it was comforting that he remembered my medical history, treated me accordingly and with compassion. The other GPS at the surgery are very nice and competent, but Doctor Ravi confirms that an old school Doctor Patient relationship is even more important these days amidst all the technological advances with patient care, changes in the NHS and private care. Thank you Doctor Ravi.
Also the receptionist was very polite and friendly .
Some of the receptionists need to improve their communication and the appointment system is erratic. Patients find difficulty to get a suitable appointment either urgent or advance ! Some receptionists do not even know who are the doctors on duty for the day or they did not tell the truth.
There are two excellent permanent doctors whom I am happy to see when require. However, some Locums are not helpful or does not know what she/he is doing. I had experienced to see a Locum for emergency appointment but I had no treatment or examination, in return I went back the next day to see my normal Gp for treatment. To my opinion, it is a waste of resources for having useless locums.
Reception staff should seriously go on a customer service course. Found them to be very abrasive and unhelpful. All the gp's I have seen at the practice are extremely professional and show great care for you as an individual. Never felt rushed at an appointment and always had proper treatment. Nurses are great and well trained. Surgery is always clean, sometimes waiting over 20 mins after your appointment time can be a little frustrating. Overall with the exception of reception staff, a great practice.
All the gp's are caring and take time to fully evaluate your problem. Never feel rushed.
Reception staff are pretty typical of what you'd expect, unfortunately like to think they are a cut above the rest. A little more emphasis on customer service would be nice.
Surgery staff is friendly and helpful. They should keep the appointment times as scheduled as never seen on time. Dr Dar is a very impatient doctor. She rushes the patient. She doesn't care about the patients needs. She is not understanding and when you go to see her for a specific problem she just tells you, you don't need any treatment.
You know your problem and why you went to the gp but Dr Dar is the worst doctor at this surgery and I will definitely not see her again and won't recommend anyone to see her either. She is in the wrong profession.
