Accept that GPs have heavy workload but the new telephone system is fine for minor issues though inconvenient if waiting in indefinitely. Feel that when the change was implemented patients with chronic illnesses should have been allocated a specific doctor and also an appointment to check progress with medications/treatment. Then follow-up by phone is fine as long as it is with the same doctor who saw you. I'm happy to divulge some information to receptionists but should be trusted to be able to make my own judgements as to requesting an appointment with a GP without giving her personal details of reason I'm calling. Overall I do not feel that the medical staff are involved, always feel as though I'm a nuisance and just a number to be ticked off.
I would prefer to be able to make an appointment straight away rather than waiting
for the doctor to phone back.
