Providing and doing a great service to the community under all the constraints and conditions. I personally could not complain about this and other nhs services provided for myself and family. Long may it last under all the pressures put upon you. My regards and admiration.

Postal service the worst ever seen! Reception staff need to learn some compassion and common sense! 1/. FIVE days for Perscription to be received via postal service?!?! Perscription was requested six days ago and online! What's that all about? 2/. Isn't the electronic system safer and quicker?? 3/. Why are you using the second class postal service??? 4/. Information was given to you in regards to the amount of medication the patient had remaining, that fell well short of the number of days is was going take for the new medication to arrive! Nobody at your surgery thought the patient should be informed of this?!?! Neither did anyone at your surgery THINK it was important the Prescriptions be sent first class due to the information that was received???!!! Neither has anyone had the decency to inform the patient that they should give a weeks notice for postal Prescriptions, not two days as would be the case in normal circumstances !?!?? Writing a letter of complaint doesn't entertain me it just not worth the hassle! I/we know your busy but compassion and common sense cost nothing! Neither does informing your patients off the position they are in some of use only have you to rely on!!!

Response from St Thomas Road Health Centre

Further to comments received I would like to clarify certain points. Repeat prescriptions require 48 hours for processing this allows time for the Doctor to decide whether the prescription can be issued or whether the patient needs a review. We do however endeavour to process prescriptions as quickly as possible and usually this is done within 24 hours. Where possible subject to the patient requesting this, prescriptions can be sent electronically to a nominated pharmacist. However certain medications such as controlled drugs are as yet not allowed to be sent electronically and paper prescriptions must be printed. As a rule we do not like to send prescriptions via the postal service and generally this is done at a patient’s insistence and we request they provide a stamped addressed envelope. We use franked envelopes when sending mail and use the second class tariff as franked post is treated by the post office the same as mail which carries a first class stamp. For anyone requesting a prescription to be posted they must allow for the 48 hours processing period and then the time it takes The Royal Mail to deliver this.

I went into Reception feeling very unwell only to be told I had to go home and wait for a phone call in a 2 hour slot. When the phone call finally arrived I was told to come in as soon as possible. Now I realise there are probably quite a lot of people who come in with minor ailments, but the attitude of the Receptionist staff was far from helpful.

Stop sending prescriptions by post it's safer electronically, I have been without Tramadol for three days and counting you can not imagine the pain I'm in! If a doctor tells you he will call you back because he hasn't got a clue about what ur showing him then he should bloody ring back. Now waiting eight weeks for a call back!?!?!? Reception staff blatantly lying???? I'm shocked at what these people think they can get away with!
