They are the most kind and caring group of people I have ever met in my life. I am grateful and thankful to every single one of them. My comments include EVERY member of staff at this surgery.

St Peter's Medical Centre is definitely not what it used to be. I called the surgery today (29/11/18) at 09.09am this morning and made spoke with the receptionists. I was given a slot 3.30pm slot which I was grateful. I arrived and "checked in on the screen" only to be told that I do not have an appointment. What a shambles!!! The receptionist said she was trying to help me which I found equally very patronising. Worse service ever!!!!! Mrs McKenzie

I think I have lost my patience with this practice. A 4 plus week wait for a routine appointment. Clearly the practice is heavily oversubscribed. I feel that patient care is no longer at the forefront of this practice it has become all about the money. I have had several disappointing encounters of late. Firstly, when I was 37 weeks I phoned for an appointment. I was told that my reason for seeing the doctor was routine in relation to my pregnancy. I was offered an appointment in 4 weeks time. I told them I would have had my baby by then ! Secondly, post pregnancy I developed painful varicose veins. Non urgent but painful. I have private health insurance. I need to wait 4 + weeks to see a doctor for a referral letter. I'm lucky that this isnt urgent but my point is for those uncertain of their symptoms waiting this length of time puts some at risk and prevents the possibility of an early diagnosis. Afterall we the lay public are not medical professionals that's why I am asking to see a doctor. What I determine as non urgent could be life threatening. A wait time of a week reduces this risk. In 4 weeks I could at the most extreme be dead. It is a wholly inappropriate system that puts patients at risk. Thirdly, the call back service. So according to the receptionist I decide if I need to be seen. I need to call in on the day to be put on call back list. Then I must remain by the phone for nurse/dr to call back in an hour or so to discuss symptoms to determine if I can be seen same day. More often than not the call back is in the first instance missed. The time and resources wasted by this system beggars belief. Yes more often than not I am seen because I decide its urgent ! What a waste of time. Clearly funding driven. I could go on but the point remains that this system is heavily geared to funding and is at the detriment of patient care.

St Peters Medical Centre at Colbeck Road has been such a welcoming change to my NHS experience that I had in the past with my previous surgery. Very helpful and friendly staff here. They certainly seem very busy, but are always warm and welcoming. Staff at the reception is extremely helpful and always try to accommodate an appointment when urgent. They are very efficient and organised too with all their admin work. Dr Shaw is my Dr whom I am referred to regularly and she is absolutely fantastic! I have written a seperate review for her. In her absence have met Dr James and Dr Christine and they too were extremely warm and very good with their diagnosis and treatment. The entire staff is very polite, efficient and they are all good listeners. I do wish to mention about Helena from the assistant team, who normally takes my blood test and she too is very gentle, kind and and very efficient at her job. I'm very happy with St. Peter's. Have moved to this GP for about a year now. Although I don't live very close to this surgery, but the travel is worth it! Thank you all for your care and service. God bless x
