Patients should still have the option to pre- book GP appointments, if they prefer. For some people it's very hard to get time off work at short notice. If an appointment was booked in advance , you then have the proof to arrange the time with your employer. This system of calling on the day, is not people friendly. It only works in the favour of the GP. It feels like patients are not even considered .
The appointment booking system is diabolical, can't book in advance and one two occasions I've phone 30+ times in a morning, getting an engaged tone each time, and no appointment.
The best thing about this surgery is the attached Pharmacy. Pharmacist is so helpful that I believe he is carrying the burden of not so good GP practice.
Appointment system is not designed for working people. When I need to call the surgery to book an appt to see my GP, I need to take a day of work. The reason is;
1-calling time is my travelling time to work.
2- When GP calls me back I will be at work and not be able to answer the call straight away.
3- When I returned the call GP may not be available and I will be back on the waiting list again.
This my past experience with the appointment system and sadly I don't get to see my GP when I need to and I have serious problems to discuss with my GP.
It is not suppose to be like this. There should be Equal Opportunuties towards to patient's needs and I am soory to say this but I strongly believe that is not met by this practice.
Appointment telephone system is quite good but it would be nice to book a GP appointment in advance as opposed to the doctor booking appointments on the day.
I was given an appointment on the same day I called, the doctor was polite and welcoming and prescribed treatment for my problem promptly. I have been registered at this surgery for 4 years and feel it is one of the best.
