Hard to get a face to face. Speaking to a doctor the other day over the phone I was told no one knows what causes lower back pain and I don't know how you think I can help you is not a very good way to respond . I was just trying to get help .

It can be difficult to see someone face to face. I have had ring backs but it is difficult to explain over the phone . And they are normally rushed and then I forget what I need to say .

Akua Ohenewaa Kumi Yirenkyi who I had an appointment with who incorrectly advised me to stop taking my current medication which I was later advised by a second Dr who advised this is absolutely not correct and I would need to come off it slowly and gradually and with caution. She then went on to say "Can I ask, have you even committed suicide in the past"? I asked her to repeat the question in case I had heard her wrong. She repeated "have you ever committed suicide in the past"? I told her I would not be making the phone call if I had ever committed suicide. She laughed and said "it is just a question I have to ask". I found this astonishing. I am assuming the question she was meant to be asking me was had I ever attempted to commit suicide in the past, which I have. I later had a GP appointment where I was asked to complete some forms and send them to reception. When I asked the Dr what the email address was they were asking me to send these to, they did not know it. On 1st November I sent these forms off and received an email confirming my referral had been processed. Today (5th August 2025) I chased said referral which was actually never sent. I booked an appointment for a medication review for my antidepressants which I stated over the phone and then received a message from someone saying they do not deal with contraceptive reviews, therefore my appointment was cancelled and I needed to call back and re-book.

This has got to be the worst clinic I have ever been involved with. It’s impossible to get a face to face appointment with a doctor. I was given a telephone appointment eventually. Was diagnosed over the phone. How is that possible. The doctor who spoke to me could hardly grasp the English language. I was pushed from pillar to post and so it continues today. Have stopped using this hell hole and I advise anyone else to keep away from.

Four times my appointments for treatment after surgery have been changed to different times/dates. Totally unexceptionable....just receive a text and cannot do a thing about it. Would give them no stars if it was possible.Very shoddy and unprofessional

Almost impossible to get an appointment. They prefer you to just go way because they are busy apparently.

Very unhelpful and rude I was the brookside surgery before they were brilliant. I moved home so had to change doctors. You might as well go elsewhere no care for patients! I work as a health professional myself and would never treat patients like that. I would give no stars if I could. Very disappointed I’m moving surgeries !

Great surgery. Clean, modern and spacious. The staff are great here. You never have to wait too long t be seen. Also there is an on-site pharmacy too which is a real bonus. The pharmacist and staff know their patients and always explain about their medication. Would highly recommend Shinfield group practice.

Very disappointed in the new trainee receptionist (young Asian lady), I came to the surgery on the afternoon of Monday 5th March and gave feedback on how to improve the online registration service but was startled by her attitude, I spoke in a polite tone and rationally spoke about my thoughts and even said I was trying to give patient feedback but she was not interested in listening to me and was deliberately looking away. Whilst I appreciate she is under training and may not be familiar with the process and procedures, for which I have no issue with, the attitude and common courtesy was seriously lacking. I wished I could have filmed her, as her body language alone spoke volumes. I am surprised that someone new to their job could be so uncaring and unenthusiastic, and wonder how she would have handled an irate patient. As someone who has worked in NHS, I think she should be advised on this for self improvement as I would not like her to be the face of NHS for the Shinfield Medical Centre. I am not doing it to be vindictive, I do care about our local community and the NHS.
