The new system is terrible. Apparently it’s to speed up the process. It actually makes it a lot longer as receptionists need to go through a questionnaire so that they can put you in a triage queue.
A routine appointment now takes between 3 - 4 weeks and if you have an urgent need you will probably sent to a UTC (nurse led usually) or A&E.
Most of the receptionists try their hardest to help but unfortunately they do not have any power to help book appointments or solve problems as the decisions are made by the triage doctor of the day.
Some of the receptionists are not very friendly and can be rude and it can be difficult to get an appointment.
I just want to say a huge thank you for the quick and thorough care I was given this evening shortly before the surgery closed. I called up at 17.50 to ask for advice on who to contact given the time of day. I had some sharp stomach pains and am pregnant. I was asked to come to the surgery and received a very thorough examination by Dr Osman and left feeling reassured and grateful for such a brilliant service. Thank you both to Dr Osman and the lovely receptionist who I spoke to .
Nurse failed to write on vial labels for blood test so hospital refused the samples, thus a waste of my time Nurses time etc. Now I will have to have another blood test and more time off work..
Not the first time this has happened very frustrating and annoying.
I should not have to micro manage a well experienced nurse I did worry something would go wrong as she said she would fill it all in when I had left.
Should have refused until I watched her like a hawk until I was satisfied everything was done correctly. I Shouldn't have to do this.
Difficult to get appointment, difficult to park, you have to go upstairs to check in and then downstairs to wait which is difficult with children.
Dr Begg was excellent, very thorough, supportive and friendly.
