sadly the service provided is very poor. My view is that the surgery is over subscribed and poorly run. The systems seem inadequate to support such a large practice. People are at their most vulnerable when unwell and the when you try to make an appointment online and advised there are none, then you call and are told there is a 4 week wait ...you try for a phone call appointment which you get two days later, explain your symptons only to be told to come in so you call back for an appointment you hold onto the phone for an hour before you get through and then only to be told there are no appointments! I have in the past made a non priority appointment, I get a text on the morning to say doctor unwell (it happens) but then have to wait another 2 weeks..... When you get to see the doctors it is fine but I get the impression the doctors do not know what is actually happening. I had reason to complain recently about my treatment when trying to order my much need medicines. The practice manager refused to speak to me and told his receptionist to tell me to put complaint in writing, I was extremely upset at the time and felt totally unsupported. I eventually got an apology but the stress it caused me at the time was awful having just left hospital. The doctors are busy I appreciate that but they seem to need a more efficient support team and take on less patients. Today I attended the Maidenbower surgery only to witness a very upset patient trying to get an appointment, the receptionist looked upset, he looked angry and frustrated everyone in the waiting room were nodding in agreement to his frustrations - it was not a happy place. It seems I am not alone in these views.

Although the doctors are good, professional and comforting when needed. The rest of the practice needs a total and complete overhaul. I am forever 'on hold' when I call, if hold lasts longer than 20 minutes I get cut off and have to start again, also tend to feel like if you call at the end of the day they avoid answering the phone until they can turn the lines off! When I've requested repeat prescriptions it's rarely gone smoothly, they get lost, don't get printed or signed, can't be found between the surgery, the North gate surgery or boots pharmacy. Reception are as helpful as chocolate teapot unless it's simply booking an available appointment, which is very rare, as by the time you get through on the phone the appointments for that day are normally all taken and the only bookable slot is weeks away or told to go wait for hours at the walk in centre. Not to mention being allocated a telephone appointment then not being called until 6.20pm, 7 hours after being told they'd ring. Very disappointing service. To sum up, other than the doctors themselves, all the employees need retraining or replacing and new management would certainly not go a miss, along with entirely new systems and processes!

whilst having to wait a short time for appointment in the surgery once with Dr Nakouzi I was given as long as I needed , I do have severe ill health. I went away feeling I had been listened to and help was offered to try and deal with problem. Needed both blood test and follow-up appointment both handled with care and booked by the receptionist. Could not have asked for more. thank you all.

I find this surgery extremely unhelpful. My 7 year old son was standing in the reception crying of pain and were told sorry can't help. We have to go to Crawley walk in centre and the can only see us at 6pm the earliest. Explained that I don't have a car at the moment and getting back home to get my son it'll be at least another hour travelling before I then still have to make my way to town. My son was with my partner which Litterally only just arrived the previous day from SA for his first visit to the UK and has absolutely no idea on how to even get in town or the walk in centre. Asked if there wasn't a way they can make room for exceptional circumstances and they just said no. I find it extremely hard to believe they can't assist or make exceptions for certain people. Especially in a 1st world country and also a country where most people travel with public transport.

Long wait to get through and at 0850 hours no more appointments. When it's adults requiring an appointment it's easier. Babies on the hand are not given appointments, you are told to await a call back in the late evening (several times now) from a doctor. six PM is too late for an ill child. Perhaps not a great choice if you have babies and need a bit more from your surgery.
