I just feel that im really rushed when im in my appointment, i dont get to fully express my concerns, or that im even being listened to.I feel like the doctors dont take me seriously.

The doctors need to listen more and better, i know theyre busy, but im a patient with concerns, and deserve to be listened to and understood. It shouldnt be my issue that you are busy.

For more than 15 years I have received extremely good care and advice from the GPs and the nurses in this practice. Even at times when they have been very busy they have listened to my concerns and provided me with clear information and explanations so as to alleviate those concerns. The reception staff have always been courteous and patient in setting appointment times and dealing with my queries about test results. As with many busy practices, making an appointment over the phone can require a little perseverance as the phone may often be engaged, such are the demands on the pratice at certain times. In the event of a sudden and/or fairly urgent need to see a GP or a nurse, an appointment is usually able to be scheduled if one is prepared to wait a while at the surgery. All in all, an excellent service is provided.

I saw Dr Shannon for mental health-related reasons and was shouted at for not giving 'direct answers' even though the nature of mental health means it can be one way in the morning and drastically change a day or two after, he then proceeded to berate me for not sticking to the medication I was told to take even though it made me feel considerably worse. It was as if he were cast to play an incredibly rude and insensitive GP and was, now thinking about it, quite comical in retrospect. However, if I were feeling low/manic that day or perhaps another more sensitive/timid patient I can imagine it might be quite devastating to be scolded and humiliated when trying to open up about your mental health/suicidal thoughts. I'd defitenly recommend you avoid Dr Shannon and request another GP besides him.

Like many other medical practices this surgery is struggling with demand. However once again they were very helpful and accommodating.Today they were able to fit me into a cancellation, the receptionist was very helpful and obliging although she was extremely busy. The Doctor was thorough and reassuring. She has already saved my life once.very professional. I cannot fault this practice. MH

I have been with the Meadow Parade Surgery for a couple of years and saw the two main doctors working there (Dr Skinner and Dr Woolens) Unfortunately BOTH were unable to help me when I was having symptoms of bad period pain and lower back and pelvic pain. One said 'It's just your time of month' the other said I was 'Overweight'. I went to the sexual health clinic in Brighton and they immediately referred me to a gynecologist. I ended up having surgery and was diagnosed with Endometriosis. HOWEVER....I have recently been back with the same pain, if not worse (as there's no cure for this) and saw Dr Adams.....I knew immediately that he was listening to me, and without a doubt has referred me back to the hospital and I already have an appointment. He is extremely warm and understanding. He gives his time to you...which is more than I can say for the other GP's there. He also helped my partner last year when he got turned away by a nurse in A&E ....Dr Adams was straight on the phone to an emergency dermatologist and without his help, my partner would still be suffering. The receptionists are also very warm welcoming. I will only be seeing Dr Adams in the future....THANK YOU x
