It is a nightmare to get an appointment. Waiting time on the telephone is unacceptable, average 45mins to get from caller number 5.
Communication is very poor. If medication or review appointments can be texted to patients it would save a lot of sitting on the phone to find out that they have already been booked or done.
I was not phoned for my medication review appointment for new medication, recently on a Friday. when I called on Monday to find out why I did not receive my phone call I was told that the doctor had already prescribed the medication I needed reviewing for 2 days before the review and that it was waiting at the chemist. Not helpful!! another 50 mins on the phone and no review!
As no medication review I have spent the whole of this week trying to get my medication to all be ready at the same time. I didn't realize that was the least of my problems it turned out i would have problems just getting my medication. Phone calls , emails and visiting the surgery. Nothing like stressing patients out. Still not got all my medication, now it is Friday again.
getting an appointment is unessessarily complicated and I really object to an untrained receptionist triaging my request.
Make it easier to make appointments by answering the phones quicker, not asking personal questions like "what is wrong with you"; that is between patient and doctor.
The doctors should be able to see a patient for more than 10 minutes if it is required.
There is no outside ventilation in the waiting area and when you sit there you come away with more germs than when you arrived!
