A very well run and organised surgery. Good use of technology really helps with appointments and repeat prescriptions etc.. Never have to wait long to get an appointment and usually seen approximately on time. The range of services offered is ideal and there is a progressive approach to updating services, information and technology.

It is possible to get an appointment on the day provided you are among those with the 'fastest finger' when the line opens at 8am. They do try to ensure you get some medical advice if you call about a child (if an appointment is not available they will get the GP to ring, and if deemed necessary they will usually slot you in at the end of the day). I find phone consultations very helpful, especially as someone who commutes into London every day and so is not easily able to drop everything to attend an appointment. I think phone consultations should be more widely available to all patients as an option rather than a last resort. Lack of Saturday opening is a real problem for those who work further afield and don't necessarily want to take a whole day off for non-urgent issues. They were trialling late night opening once a week, but this isn't really enough. For those in Pitstone wanting a local service, the Pitstone surgery is really only a shadow branch - only one doctor there each day, limited opening, and no real chance of an appointment there unless you make a case that you don't drive. Sort of defeats the object really. Plus sends more traffic to the Tring branch where there is limited parking. They have not embraced open digital patient records. It is frustrating not to be able to log in and look at your own records online in the way that you can with some surgeries. Surely this will be common place in the fairly near future. The online prescriptions service is ok but clunky. GPs are generally prepared to listen to the patient. But my child's GP never appears confident dealing with an infant/toddler - nervous even. We have had little help with ongoing health issues and a couple of issues were not spotted, and I have ended up googling to find answers and to seek referrals to specialists, which has left me lacking in confidence.
