In the space of 90 minutes I had rung the surgery, received a call back from the GP offering an appointment and had that appointment. I received excellent care at every point and was involved in treatment options. I received clear after care advice going forward for the weekend. Treated with great kindness and empathy, GP respected my own medical knowledge.

What a mixed bag. You never know what you’re going to get here, but the sure thing is that it’s probably not an appointment with a Dr until they’ve screened you with a phone call first. The reception staff have often been particularly rude and incompetent as they demonstrably know nothing about the Drs or Midwives who work in the practice - or they are completely divisive in making contact with them in the case of a problem. I wish there were a small practice nearby that I could visit instead, as this practice appears to be overloaded with poor training, and no parking - it’s all already taken by the staff. Occasionally, there is a gem of a Dr or a receptionist who makes you realise that it’s not the whole practice...and this feels wonderful - thanks to those who make the difference.

I have recently returned home for the Easter break from university and did not have a chance to pick up my medications before leaving my university city. I knew I would have to re-register here as a temporary patient and so I went in, in person and filled in a form, and watched while it was put onto the books (by two of the reception staff, as one didn't know how to use the computer?!) I then waited about a week and a half to make sure I was definitely on the system. I called on and off for 15 minutes once lines opened at 8:30am. Eventually when it got to 8:45am I was number 15 in the queue (this is a surgery that is taking on more patients?!). Eventually I managed to speak to a member of reception staff who claimed I wasn't on the system!!! She took all my details again and said a Dr would call me back "in the next two hours". Exactly two hours later I had a voicemail from the Dr who was incredibly irritated that she had been unable to reach me. I called again and left my house phone number so she could reach me. Some time later the Dr called me again, I apologised for the earlier problem which she did not at all acknowledge. The entire phone call was a disgrace to the medical profession. I have NEVER been spoken to so rudely by anyone, ever. She was short, dismissive, verging on aggressive, and completely unprofessional. I thanked her at the end of the phone call only to stop myself from losing my temper with her. I hung up and cried, because of how she had made me feel. Thank GOODNESS I am only a temporary patient because I will not be using them ever again. Such a shame. Imagine if I had been more vulnerable? Or worried about a health condition?

I recently needed to see a GP at this practice. The usual procedure is to ring the surgery and then a doctor will call back to check details of the problem prior to an appointment. I spoke with Dr Henk Mulder who was extremely understanding and helpful and arranged an appointment straight away. I am so grateful for his kind and efficient response to my anxiety and I would like to thank him for this. It was reassuring and just what I needed at the time.
