When you can get an appointment the treatment is competent. I gave up trying for appointments with my named doctor though and just accept whoever is free, although I dont have an issue with that. The area that *really* needs attention is ringing to get an appointment. Its rare to get to speak to someone within 5 minutes of ringing, often I ring multiple times. The online system is a bit of a joke, i *think* they changed system provider back in december, but the logins do not work on the new system.

I have become increasingly frustrated and disappointed at the level of stakeholder engagement and accessible services at this practice. Many of the doctors are good however, but accessing services through regular channels for appointments is a farce - this is unacceptable given that stakeholders wishing to engage with the service are frequently vulnerable due to ill health. Over the years ordering repeat prescriptions has been inaccurate and unhelpful and the new systems are a step backwards. Fifteen years ago this was an exemplar practice, but now it has become bloated by a bureaucracy that creates the experience of patients being kept at arms length.

I really hope that the surgery reflect on these reviews because as the volumes grow they will become a good way for staff to detect trends in feedback patients provide and which that they can then address. My Doctor - Catherine Brown - is second to none. She is an exemplary professional who makes sensible decisions about patient care, and I am very confident that I will receive excellent guidance when I seek medical advice. My main issue is with the repeat prescription situation - the online system was replaced by a new system but there is no communication online to let people know of the need to re-register to use the new process. Additionally, despite the fact that I have been a patient at this surgery for many many years I am being told that I need to prove my identity by bringing in a passport or driver license which means I now need to take time off work to get to the surgery with one of these documents. (I can assure the medical profession...I have absolutely no desire to impersonate someone who has a long standing health condition. Common sense should prevail in terms of identity verification!) My second issue is related to the process internally with repeat prescriptions - I took a morning off work to come into the surgery to make a specific request, yet despite very very carefully writing out the item I needed on the form I was prescribed the wrong item. This is not the first time this has happened, it has been a recurring issue for numerous years. Please improve the administration process, this is a waste for the NHS as incorrectly dispensed items legally cannot be returned to the pharmacy. Finally, I'd suggest that the registration forms that are required both for the online repeat prescriptions and for the now stringently checked NHS exemption certificates are available via the surgery website. This will save the surgery time and money in the printing and dishing out of these forms so staff can focus on answering phones or can deal with patients coming in for appointments...and allow patients who go to work to get on with their daily lives without chasing around trying to get hold of paperwork which is not a health issue and therefore doesn't come under a reason to be allowed time off work.
