Since our own practice at Aberchirder amalgamated with Portsoy the service we receive is nothing less than unacceptable. Sometimes there is only one doctor covering both practices, they cant get a locum to cover for some reason either. It is besides the point that Portsoy have had a doctor leave, completely unacceptable that no replacement for him, which would only give Portsoy/Aberchirder, 3 doctors in total to cover both practices, even if they could get another permanent doctor. The service they offer now is that we have to phone for appt. the receptionists put us through to Triage, and these triage nurses listen to our symptoms and then decide if we can see a doctor (not acceptable). When we finally get given an appointment, which could be 2 weeks away, we cannot see the doctor we initially saw, practically impossible for that to happen, so we get a locum or in my own case not even a regular doctor but had to settle for a Practice Nurse. All we get in explanation is that they are a doctor short, well to my mind they are not doing enough to attract doctors as its been months now and who are suffering the patients that is who. There is a tragedy just waiting to happen, I can see it coming with us all having to be means tested via Triage before being considered important enough to see a Doctor, especially with the elderly. I have tried to join another practice as Portsoy/Aberchirder service is appalling, well there is no service really, but seems they are inundated with others trying to leave Portsoy/Aberchirder and are not taking any more patients on. It is strange how the other practices around the locality seem to have a permanent number of regular doctors. but somehow Portsoy/Aberchirder cant even manage to achieve this. If we are ill in future, we have decided just to go along to A & E, I never advocated this procedure before as they are very busy, but if this is the only way we can get attention, this is what we will do, and I would suggest that others do the same thing. ~We all know our own bodies and know when something is wrong, but if we wait for the Portsoy/Aberchirder practice to give us appointments, well we could end up in hospital anyway.

There is no such thing as great care at this practice. The doctor's I have seen and their abilities are very questionable. One doctor will say one thing while the another doctor will say something different. I feel discriminated and unsupported. Do not go to this practice. They cannot even give you a diagnosis even if you tell them exactly what the pain is. Shocking service all round

There is nothing great about this practice. The doctor's I have seen over the past month have no duty of care. He could not even give me a diagnosis on the pains I'm having in my ribs cage area. Shocking appointment schedules. He said he thinks it's muscular or skeletal pain I've been experiencing for the last 4 months now. Apparently I'm deemed fit for work. I'm a self employed builder! If I lift anything from the ground I am in alot of pain. But that's OK I'm fit for work....... Shocking service. Are you doctors? Or do you just read that screen in front of you? The receptionist is nice. They even blatantly lied to my face about some things that were said, the doctor that is. Shocking service. Please avoid. Got to the hospital as these people do not have a care for you

Apalling "service" and attitude from receptionists. A very dark, dingy, old fashioned, musty and unfriendly environment. I waited an hour past the time of my appointment and was still not seen with other people still ahead of me. My own practice has closed which was a great wee place. I will never return to Portsoy medical, it is dire. I was advised to stay clear of the practice nurse here but there are no gp appointments. However as I was seen by no-one it did not matter anyway. Horrendous non existant medical in my area.

I TRIED TO GET AN APPOINTMENT ON THE 26th AT THE PRACTICE TO SEE MY DOCTOR WITH A CHEST PAIN, WAS TOLD BY AN OFFICIOUS RECEPTIONIST THAT I COULDN'T GET AN APPOINTMENT UNTIL LATE NEXT MONTH. WHEN I EXPLAINED I WAS A LONG TERM TYPE 1 DIABETIC THAT DOESN'T WASTE MEDICAL STAFF'S TIME IT MADE NO DIFFERENCE, I SAID I NEEDED TO BE SEEN THAT DAY OR THE NEXT AT LATEST, SHE WAS ADAMANT SHE COULDN'T HELP ME.. I THEN SAID I WOULD BE MAKING AN OFFICIAL COMPLAINT AND GO TO THE NEAREST A+E DEPARTMENT , AND SHE COULDN'T CARE LESS. WENT TO A+E AT 4PM WAS SEEN BY A PROFESSIONAL NURSE AT 4.35, EXPLAINED EVERYTHING, WAS GIVEN VARIOUS TESTS AND AN ECG, I WAS THE SEEN BY A SENIOR REGISTRAR NURSE WHO WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL ABOUT HOW HE TREATED ME, THOUGHT I HAD A CHEST INFECTION WHICH WAS CONFIRMED BY A FEMALE DOCTOR THAT WAS CALLED TO VERIFY HIS DIAGNOSES . WAS GIVEN AN INJECTION IN MY RUMP AND TOLD TO MAKE SURE I SAW MY OWN DOCTOR THE NEXT MORNING. HOME AT 5.30 SO PHONED THE PRACTICE AND WAS TOLD I HAD AN APPOINTMENT WITH A LOCUM AT 10.50 NEXT DAY, ARRIVED AND WAITED NOW 20 MINUTES AFTER MY ALLOTTED TIME STILL NO DOCTOR. TALKING WITH OTHER WAITING PATIENTS, I LEARNED THAT ONE WOMAN HAD BEEN WAITING FOR MORE THAN 30 MINS TO SEE THE SAME DOCTOR.. HER APPOINTMENT WAS FOR 10.30. EVERYBODY THAT WAS WAITING IN THE SURGERY WERE ALL COMPLAINING ABOUT HOW THE PRACTICE WAS TRYING TO OPERATE AFTER TAKING ON THE ABERCHIRDER PRACTICE AS WELL. .SAW THE DOCTOR AT 11.45, HE LISTENED TO MY CHEST AND TOLD ME TO GO HOME AND INCREASE MY PAINKILLERS,,,,( bloody joke ) AS HE COULD NOT DETECT ANYTHING , I EXPLAINED WHAT I HAD BEEN TOLD AT A+E , THAT THEY HAD THOUGHT I HAD A CHEST INFECTION AND THAT I SHOULD BE PUT ON ANTIBIOTICS,, HE DISMISSED THAT IDEA STRAIGHT AWAY, THAT WAS THE END OF IT AS FAR AS HE WAS CONCERNED, SO AT THAT I WALKED OUT DISGUSTED, I GOT THE FEELING THE WHOLE TIME I WAS WITH HIM THAT HE WAS RUSHING TO GET THE APPOINTMENT OVER WITH,,,I FOUND OUT HE WAS THE ONLY DOCTOR AT THE PORTSOY PRACTICE THAT DAY.,, TO BE CONTINUED............. I FIND IT FUNNY THAT A YEAR AGO PORTSOY MEDICAL PRACTICE WERE COMPLAINING THAT THEY ALL HAD TO BIG A WORKLOAD,,,THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN BECAUSE ABERCHIRDER PRACTICE COULD NOT GET A REPLACEMENT DOCTOR OF THERE OWN........PORTSOY JOINED FORCES, AND TWO PRACTICES ARE TRYING TO WORK AS ONE,,,WHAT A BLOODY JOKE,,, FROM THERE OPENING STATEMENT WHEN YOU PHONE A NEW NUMBER FOR THE PRACTICE,(please listen to the following options,,,,,--- if your dying ,,,phone 999,---- if you want a doctor you wont get one as were covering two practices -press button 2 or ,the time you will have to wait to see a doctor ,,revert back to first option !!! --- ) TO ACTUALLY SPEAKING TO A MEMBER OF STAFF.. OVER THE YEARS I HAVE SEEN MANY CHANGES WITHIN THE NHS, SOME GOOD SOME NOT SO GOOD. BUT THIS JOINING OF TWO PRACTICES TO OPERATE AS ONE IS A JOKE,,,,HOW CAN AN OVERSTRETCHED PRACTICE SUDDENLY TAKE ON ANOTHER PRACTICE AND EXPECT TO GIVE THE SAME PATIENT SERVICE.
