The visit really was rescued by the lovely male doctor who was compassionate and educated. The receptionist was just plain rude. Why do a job in care and then speak to people as if they should not be there. It’s a walk in centre, people walk in it’s kind of obvious and I’d suggest clear when she applied for her job. The nurse/health care assistant sadly didn’t impress either. Who employs these people. My daughter is a child, she went into the room for initial assessment 2 mins before me. I walked in to hear the nurse demanding to know why my daughter hadn’t seen her gp and forcing her to answer questions which she seemed very confused and upset by. I’d like to add my daughter wasn’t wasting anyone’s time and had been under hospital care for some time. Symptoms had flared and to prevent an emergency centre visit we felt it best to get her treated there. Her visit was a necessary visit and these two members of staff did not just cause upset but her in a position where I feel she felt she shouldn’t ask for help when struggling in future. My daughter is a minor and therefore she should be treated as one. Luckily our visit ended by a really educated doctor who took it upon himself to listen, be empathic and gave a temporary solution for her until she awaits further treatment. He couldn’t solve the problem but I wasn’t really expecting him to. He did his job and went that extra mile to offer the child the security she needed for what was an anxious time. Maybe the receptionist and healthcare team should recognise that people may have more going on than what they can see. You would think it would be part of their training.
