I have been with Pemberley Surgery for over 30 years and can honestly say that the care and treatment I had over the years was excellent. Until now. What has gone wrong. I find it hard to believe that the Doctors are allowing the reputation of an outstanding Surgery to be ruined. Now you have to wait 3 weeks for an appointment and that may not even be at your own surgery. If you don't drive it can be difficult. If you need an urgent appointment you get a phone consultation to decide if you need to be seen or, as you often wait all day for a call if you are worried you have to go to the Walk In Center or A&E which defeats the purpose of having a registered doctor. These days the Receptionist are rude, surly and unhelpful yet they use to be so good and nice. The surgery is still good if you have a long term illness like Diabetes as the Nurses experienced and nice and you get great care and you can plan our appointments in advance but if you need to be seen reasonably quickly then forget it. You might as well go to the Walk in Center. I would like to make helpful suggestions - I think the idea of a phone consultation is great and could be offered as an alternative to a "live appointment" and also I understand you have a resident Physio now. But really the best suggestion I could make would be to go back to what the surgery was doing before your merger. I have not found a single benefit since the change. In fact it has caused a lot of distress and actually put members of my family at risk on 3 occasions. If you could explain what the benefits are suppose to be. Are they for the staff or for the Patients?

They will try everything possible to make a easy task difficult. Their receptionists are unhelpful and rude and their back office administration is absolutely appalling to the point of being not fit for purpose. How do you fix a problem like this? E-mail the Practice Manager who does not respond. There service levels have plunged since the merger to the point that the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing as practices are in disparate location throughout Bedford. Doctors and Nurses are of good quality but are being let down by their own systems or lack of them.

Horrendously oversubscibed and you can not get an appointment for over 15 days if you try to book on line. Used to be fine but they just keep their doors open for new patients but they can't look after the ones they have. Doctors fabulous, nurses great too in fact all staff but when i address the issue of getting an appointment I was told there wasn't an issue!! Not sure if they have ever tried calling up themselves to get an appointment. You can sometimes get an appointment with a junior but that's not always helpful albeit i appreciate they have to train and start somewhere.

Since the surgery has merged it is awful. You ring to make an appointment & you can't get one when you want one. There are really rude receptionist now. They are very unfriendly & talk to people like they are stupid. You can't see the doctor of your choice any more that's worse than before. When you phone Pemberley Surgery most of the time the receptionist are rude or hang up on you. Since the change i have not been satisfied with the doctor's i have seen. Or the treatment i have been given. Also why in this day & age do all doctor's surgeries in this group shut for staff training. That is appalling. Patients should not have to go without seeing a doctor because of staff training that should either be done at a weekend as the staff don't work. Or the surgeries should be covered by other staff.

I had a very bad skin infection. I got prescribed some cream after try some over the counter cream which didnt work. The prescribed cream did work. when putting in a repeat prescription it took a week! i rang up and said the infection has got worst and that i cant wait and longer for the cream. since i haven't had the cream it was getting worse. The lady said the doctor would do the prescription tonight and would be sent to you chemist overnight electronically, when to the pharmacy, no presciption. rang the surgery for hours and no answer. walked to the pharmacy and said why dont you answer the phone.. she said we are busy, which they were not. i rang again right in front of her and it was still engaged! Then i asked why my prescription is not ready. she said the doctors needs to talk with you again first, but she cant give me an appointment, the doctor will ring me tomorrow. Tomorrow comes, i wake up with a missed call from the doctor. I rang back, "docotrs isent available, we will have to make an appointment for you tomorrow. i was so pissed off. Meanwhile iv had to use natural remedies which didnt work. The next day i go to the doctor, all she tells me is that she cant give me it, and that i should go to the pharmacy to buy over the counter cream. i said to her i had already tried them, and the the prescription cream was working very well.. she says the nurse wasen't supposed to prescribe you that cream she made a mistake. so now im trying to figure out how to stop this infection. I was also trying to get my hayfever tablets, prednisolone was the only thing which had ever worked for me, even then it works only slightly ( i have hayfever very bad) she says the use over the counter treatments. i said i have tried them ALL.. hence why i have to resort to prescriptive medicines. She insists i go use over the counter treatments, then says worst case come back and prescribe me something stronger. ...ITS ALREADY WORSE CASE... Woman on reception is also stubborn and most unhelpful when it came to getting an appointment. To the point when she would actually try to be a inconvenience, but i wont go too much into that. Summary... terrible service, they dont care how many days they keep you waiting no matter how bad your problem is, and they dont take into consideration your history and what YOU would like to do about your treatment and what you KNOW works for you. Avoid this surgery.
