Called last week and was given a telephone appointment for this morning. Received a call from Dr Mahmood who listened to me and suggested an urgent blood test, results would be given to me today. I went to collect the referral letter and went to Croydon Hospital. After taking blood I was advised to call the surgery after 2pm as results were marked as urgent. I called at 4pm, the receptionist was straight out rude and said that receiving my results from them is not how it's done. I repeated that I was informed by pathology and Dr Mahmood that the results would be given to me by the surgery today. After finally checking that the results had arrived i was told i now need to wait until Wednesday as no gp's to check results. I called the results lab at the hospital and they informed me that the results had been received by the surgery at 12.30 so they should have given me the results as it was marked as urgent. I called back and another receptionist immediately says that my situation is not a critical emergency so would not be checked. I asked why I was told by the gp that I would receive the results today if that was not the case as I could have done the blood test another day. She went to look into it and called back saying Dr Mahmood had left for the day and there's no one else to check the results and I need to call back on Wednesday to chase up results myself. I don't get the point of urgent results when the gp has no intention of contacting patients. Overall the receptionists have a bad attitude to patients, not just from this but the other times I have visited or called. They belittle patients and make their own decisions as to what's important or not. Will be changing surgeries once this is over
