Really poor experience from start to finish. Called up to review amount of medication prescribed and was told no without even asking what medication it was. When I queried this, I was told that they would have been able to see which medication it was on screen. Which would have been believable, had they even asked me my name... Finally got them to put it to the doctor but don't appreciate being lied to. My mother needs an urgent review of her medication, at the instruction of a consultant and paramedic but this clearly means very little to the reception team who point blank refused to even make a phone appointment, telling her she needs to call back at 8am. What part of urgent allows for this? Changing GPs. Good riddance.

Show some consideration. Don't lie to your patients. Acknowledge that a consultant knows more than your receptionist and act on his requests.

I stayed in this surgery because of Doctor Gilmore he was the glue that held this place together he retired and that was it. Over the years I've had appaling experiences, being sent away when I was bleeding badly with a period a female doctor said you can't bleed to death with a period three days later I was in hospital given drugs to stop the bleeding and was transfused four units of blood. My father was given anti sickness tablets after a home visit, my mum called me crying I worked at the hospital I went down phoned the surgery luckily Dr Gilmore came out took one look phoned for an ambulance and was cannulating him while we were waiting. When I went in there were what you call coffee grounds vomit in a bowl its basically old blood, his abdomen was extended and rigid and he was given anti sickness tablets. He had a perforated bowl and sepsis was in ITU for a month and was lucky to live. I have back problems and I'm on a, lot of medication, but suddenly I couldn't weight bear on my right leg the pain was terrible, my friend took me to the surgery, I went in the doctor sat there I explained I couldn't weight bear on my right leg, then the fire alarm went off, she picked her bag up, and said we need to go out and left me hanging onto a wall to get out, when we returned she said well you are all ready on pain killers I said I know I'm not asking for me I'm worried because I can't walk her advice go home put your leg up, she never got out of her chair to examine me. I went home to bed two days later I was in agony and couldn't hardly drag myself to the toilet, I phoned my husband and said come home and take me to A&E I can't stand this, he did but I couldn't get down the stairs, we had to call an ambulance and they gave me gas and air to move me. At the hospital a doctor examined me asked me to lift my leg I couldn't push her hand away I couldn't, she sent me for an xray and I had a badly broken hip, they couldn't believe I had not been examined. I was in hospital for six weeks because the hip broke without a fall and I wasn't old I had to have loads of tests which included having to go to Birmingham for specialised biopsies. Luckily it wasn't a tumour but a cyst that has burst causing a huge hole in my femur which then snapped I had a hip replacement. More recently the same doctor refused to listen to my pain consultant about my thyroid, my consultant said I needed to see an endocrinologist, the doctor said my blood tests were all right I was desperate I felt so ill in the end my pain consultant said can you afford to pay to see an endocrinologist privately I said yes, then I had a tussle with the GP about doing a referral my husband phoned and spoke to her she called me back and said she would refer me to the NHS I said no I'm not waiting months or years so she did the referral. The doctor said imagine a car with a driver navigator steering wheel wheels petrol, well you are that car without the driver the navigator, the steering wheel wheels and petrol, my blood pressure was so low I could hardly stand. I'm still seeing this doctor I'm on six month appts now the thought of seeing one of these doctors fills me with dread. I have got to get my act together and change doctors the last thing happened during covid so I couldn't do anything then. The positive things I can say is that Lisa the practice manager is lovely I do know how tough the NHS is as I've worked for it for thirty years. Diane the HCA, is brill and a couple of the receptionists are really nice so I've finished on a positive note, but I would say to anyone new to the area avoid this practice the service is terrible

Suggested improvements
Everything the place needs a complete overhaul, the doctors need to remember that the patients are humans and sick and not be haughty, it does not put people at ease. I really can't write what needs doing better everything I don't know how they get through their CQC checks they obviously don't read the complaints about the practice. My name is Tracy Farnath I'm quite happy to give my name and opinion.

My partner has been ill for nearly a month, so he went in to the surgery 10.30am to book an appointment that would be convenient to them, and was told he could not make an appointment with the receptionist at the desk, but to ring the next morning at 8am? Not sure way she could not book an appointment face to face? She told him if he rang that next morning he would been seen that next day. So he rang the next morning, 8am, like instructed, was in the phone queue for 10 minutes, so this is only 8.10am, the same receptionist answered that he saw and spoke to the previous day, that had told him to ring, for her to tell him all appointments had gone and no appointments would be available until 2 weeks time!!?? How does this place stay open and not get closed down and struck off, it is a complete mystery, as this is not a one off, this is experienced all the time by everyone that is registered here!?

It is very difficult to get an appointment when needed, but I dont think that this is the fault of either the doctors or staff , I believe that there are far too many patients in this area for the number of surgeries or doctors in Hucknall. One thing that I believe would improve the service regarding prescriptions, is when a medication is due for review, this review sould take place at the beginning of the month and not be held back untill the medication is due.I suggest this because on several occassions I have completetely run out of medication for several days whilst waiting for the review to be completed. Medication in question includes, Thyroxine ,bisoprolol, amlodopine alfacalcidol, aspirin and clopidogrel.
