I work shifts so I find it very difficult to get to the surgery but I find that I cannot get an appointment as the person I want to see never has available appointments , it's not her fault but she knows my complete history and has been with me over seeing my health issues since my diagnoses 4 years ago , I like to see the same person as I find it very time consuming having to explain myself over and over to another doctor about my needs . I feel my health checks / patient care isn't as good as it was since the change to diabetes type 2 was given out to other nurses I ask questions and don't get / feel happy with the answers given and am told you need to speak to a doctor which is about more time making yet another appointment , the surgery as a whole is very good and there are some really helpful receptionist but others not so, I used to have a check up ever 12 weeks and felt happy with the service provided I went out feeling that life wasn't so bad and that I had been dealt with suffiently , now I leave not feeling so convinced I just wish also that appointments were not so much hard work it puts you off ringing / coming into the surgery as there is not a positive out come and it makes you think I can't be bothered . I am probably one of the luckier ones who doesn't need to see someone on such a frequent basis but for hoses who do it's like an up hill struggle . I have tried phoning the surgery today 18. 9 2015 and have dialled repeatedly for the last hour and it's engaged I ring at 1 0clock when I know new appointments are available only never to get through and when you finally do the appointments are gone so I never get to do the medically correct thing of looking after my self by having regular check ups so my health being affected . Overal your staff / surgery are very good but it's just very frustrating when you cannot be seen and you genuinely need to be I hope this helps you and I don't sound like a moaning Minnie but it has to be said

My last visit was to a new doctor and I checked in on screen at reception. The screen disappeared so I don't know if there were any different instructions as to where to wait. I was sitting in the usual waiting room for a good half an hour (could have been longer) before the doctor appeared at the door to lead me through to what was Dr Lamb's consulting room. I have not had to wait such a long time in the past. As there is waiting facilities out the back I wondered if I should have gone there....if so why was I not told verbally by a receptionist as my presence must have been logged in.

Overall very happy with the service at the surgery, diabetic care is brilliant. Have to say though that when I went a couple of weeks ago the ladies toilet had no hand wash and no toilet paper either at 10.40am, this is not acceptable and they should be check every hour. Answering the phone lines is a bit quicker which is good.

I used the surgery today and I had a superb consultation with Dr Tuckwell whose interpersonal skills are exemplary. Others in the clinical team could learn how to engage, involve and empower patients with compassion and respect. Unfortunately the reception staff lack the patient focus I expect. Upon arrival I stood in front of the receptionist for about three minutes before she chose to acknowledge my presence. During this period she chatted to the other receptionist showing her contempt for me and this falls below an acceptable level of conduct.
