I have been a patient for many years and always found the people who work as doctors , nurses and receptionist `s very understanding and caring. I had major surgery last year and the aftercare from the surgery was very good Dr. Geeverghese and Dr. Ryder gave me excellent advice and helped me on the road to recovery for which I am truly grateful .. I have now moved from the area and I will be more than happy if I get the same quality of treatment in Estuary View Whitstable, I would recommend Northdown Surgery to all new patients..

The Surgery is well run apart from the appointment system. Why can't we go back to the old style of arranging appointments, going to the surgery at 7.30 am is not a very good idea for the elderly especially during the winter months.

By changing the appointment system, myself I cannot walk to the surgery to get an appointment, if I use the phone at 8 am it is always engaged and if I do manage to get through eventually, often all the appointments with my own doctor have gone for that day. This is the only complaint I have about the Northdown Surgery.

Northdown Surgery has recently been refurbished, it is a bright and friendly place to visit and the reception staff are always very helpful. Only one thing lets the surgery down, that is the appointment system. If you phone at 8 am the number is always engaged and can take up to 3/4 hour to get through by this time most of the appointments for that day are gone, the other option is to queue up at the surgery at 7.30 am or before. I cannot walk to the surgery myself so find it very difficult to gain an appointment on the day I need it. Why can't we go back to the old system of booking an appointment, so much easier for folk of my age? When people cannot arrange an appointment when they need it obviously they do the next best thing and go to the A&E dept. at the local hospital, that is why the A&E departments are overloaded with cases that should not be there. Can't managers of the NHS get this sorted out and make it so much better for all concerned. I care very much about what happens to our wonderful NHS, we have never been so well looked after and long may it continue. June Jackson
