The last time I went to see Dr Ladd I came out of the surgery crying and was meant to book a appointment as I have CPTSD I should see her monthly sadly this is the 2nd time I have left feeling upset not listen to and extremely frustrated. To heal you have to listen and I know that this is where the surgery goes so wrong I joined this practice 5 years ago and when I joined I had a great doctor he was empathetic and genuinely listen to what I was trying to explain. I don't know if its pressure from lack of doctors over the past year but I am finding it harder and harder to get a appointment yesterday told it would be 5 weeks before I could see Dr Ladd !! I'm frustrated upset and disappointed by the lack of understanding care and just basic listening that seems so lacking at this surgery. I feel let down stressed and once again tearful because to try and heal is a upward struggle but to have a appointment to see about what I need to see Dr Ladd about has made my CPTSD worse which surely is not right .

I have been a patient of Newbury Street Practice since 1969. I grew up in the care of Dr Livingstone and Dr Kyle which for patients that go back a distance too will speak for itself I'm sure. You don't get many Dr Livingstone's or Dr Kyle's to the pound! We were privileged in Wantage to have them there. Dr Shackleton is still there to keep up those same standards and Dr Ladd is excellent too. In recent weeks when I have needed it most and with the care of Dr Shackleton, the care and treatment I have received has been just as it always used to be, with nothing left to chance. I must say too that one of the receptionists was especially caring when I made my appointment to see Dr Shackleton. I was trying not to cry and she could see that I think and did her best to ensure that I understood there is a duty doctor system and that if I felt I couldn't wait later on, I could let the surgery know so that the duty doctor could phone me to discuss the problem. She didn't ask what the problem was and she was kind and sensitive. I was happy to wait to see Dr Shackleton. I am getting better now, thanks to her great care. With things as bad as they are in the NHS now we are very lucky in Wantage to receive the level of care we do from the GPs in our surgeries and from the nurses and we should feel thankful and grateful for that.

If only the computerised repeat prescription service was as good as the doctors I would be happy to recommend the Practice. I registered for on-line repeats some months ago and had a letter from Dr Robinson in confirmation. When I tried to log on last week it said, log-on failed, so I registered again and had a letter of conformation this time from Dr Shackleton. So today I tried to log-on and guess what - yes that's right log-on failed. Just as well its not an emergency.

If only we would be informed earlier by a phone call that the nurse who was going to see my daughter wasnt available on that time, having to waste a good 40mins of waiting, was told at reception that she was out ONLY after i inquired about our waiting time.If i didnt let them know that i was waiting for 40mins,God knows how long we would have taken.

This practice is very well run. It is quite possible to get a same day appointment if necessary and I find the reception staff extremely helpful in what is a difficult and high pressured job.
