I have been a patient of Newbury Street Practice since 1969. I grew up in the care of Dr Livingstone and Dr Kyle which for patients that go back a distance too will speak for itself I'm sure. You don't get many Dr Livingstone's or Dr Kyle's to the pound! We were privileged in Wantage to have them there. Dr Shackleton is still there to keep up those same standards and Dr Ladd is excellent too. In recent weeks when I have needed it most and with the care of Dr Shackleton, the care and treatment I have received has been just as it always used to be, with nothing left to chance. I must say too that one of the receptionists was especially caring when I made my appointment to see Dr Shackleton. I was trying not to cry and she could see that I think and did her best to ensure that I understood there is a duty doctor system and that if I felt I couldn't wait later on, I could let the surgery know so that the duty doctor could phone me to discuss the problem. She didn't ask what the problem was and she was kind and sensitive. I was happy to wait to see Dr Shackleton. I am getting better now, thanks to her great care. With things as bad as they are in the NHS now we are very lucky in Wantage to receive the level of care we do from the GPs in our surgeries and from the nurses and we should feel thankful and grateful for that.
