I feel compelled to share my recent experience following attendance at Hayesbank Surgery last Friday, 4th November. I was fortunate to obtain a cancellation appointment with Dr Lan. The nature of my medical condition was that of a problematical knee condition, presumed to be attributable to a combination of excessive sport and age. Dr Lan is a credit to his profession who possesses all necessary communication skills, personal attributes and characteristics, referred to historically as having 'a good bedside manner'. The diagnosis given was one of an arthritic condition that, is his professional opinion required pain management and referral for physiotherapy. My only reservation was with regard to the anticipated timescale likely, within which to receive an appointment and the possibility of private referral was discussed. To my amazement i received a text message the following Monday 7th November (today) requesting that i contact Heathshare in order to book an appointment at the local Stour centre, which i have duly done for the day after tomorrow (Weds 9th November). In summary GP Consultation, referral and appointment scheduled within 5 days. This is in effect comparable to a private referral system. One is prone to criticise the NHS when things go badly and this does happen. However on this occasion my expectations have been exceeded greatly and i can only reiterate my sincere thanks to all parties involved in achieving such a satisfactory outcome on my behalf. This isn't an isolated example with regard to individual GP level of care and professionalism at this practice as i have experienced the same with Dr Geeta with whom i have also been fortunate enough to have been treated. Finally i note the substantial refurbishment works reaching conclusion at the surgery which have transferred it from a rather drab and outdated appearance to one of a modern day environment, which can only enhance the patient / customer experience. Many thanks again Phil Basher

I made an appointment to see a doctor at New Hayesbank Surgery last month, having not attended for 10 years. I saw a female doctor who was ungracious, offhand, unhelpful and rude. I got the impression that she didn't believe what I was telling her and I was told "I AM running late you know" - no, I didn't know and it was only 09.30! I eventually got the result I wanted but, having arrived at the surgery with some apprehension, I left hoping that it will be at least another 10 years before I need to return.

Once you get to see a doctor I would say it is fine, however there does seem to be a huge amount of new doctors constantly on the scene which doesn`t help with continuity of care. The reception staff are not the happiest of people whereas they always used to be, not sure why they have to make you feel like a real trouble maker for wanting an appt. I think the new system of not being able to get a same day apt is rubbish. If you need to be seen you cannot wait 2 weeks, maybe next day or certainly within a couple of days. This attitude only makes more people turn up at A&E. The first thing the doctor told me today was "hello, this is a 5 minute apt" that is totally unacceptable, I know their time is precious but then so is my life and if I need 7 minutes, I need 7 mins. Overall compared to a couple of years ago I would say my experience of New Hayesbank is pretty miserable, I feel a real nuisance just asking to be seen and if I wasn`t as strong a personality as I am the attitude would definitely put me off wanting to go there. I`m pretty sure all surgeries are the same these days but hey we are patients who all have genuine concerns and issues and need to be treated with respect and not just a trouble maker. Looking forward to when all the construction works have finished, this is truly horrible at the moment. Please turn back the clock and be that fantastic surgery you once was.

Excellent nursing staff. Always attentive, friendly and practical. They work well as a team, consulting each other when necessary, & calling in a doctor if they want extra support. nothing is too much trouble

Can't thank the surgery enough for being so helpful & obliging in dealing with my daughter's medical report needed for her army application. From the Practice Manager to the secretary, GP & receptionists, they were all so accommodating in actioning our request so speedily. At no point did the team make us feel like we were being a nuisance! Heartfelt thanks!
