I phoned to make an future appointment, totally flexible as to date and time with any female doctor. Told there was NOT ANY in the next 2 weeks. Could I please make one for 3 weeks time then? 4 weeks time? any time? just please can you give me a future appointment. No.....I have to ring every morning at 8.15am (although I am in the car on the way to work) until I am lucky enough to get a free slot. But this could go on for ever, without me getting an appointment. Just how many phone calls will I have to make, and how many phone calls will your receptionist have to answer before I get one.....what a waste of everyone's time. Why can it not be as simple as, one phone call to make a future appointment and be given the next available date in the future. This absurd system you use is more to do with fudging your figures. You are able to say that no patient waits longer than 2 weeks for an appointment so that you can meet government guidelines. Why else would you operate a system that quite clearly doesn't work. Shame on you.

Today I called to ask to be prescribed a very very simple prescription of antibiotics which they did however, at the end of the phone call I was told to wait an hour for my prescription before it would be ready and they asked where I'd like it to be sent, as I live near dominos I asked for it to be sent to boots, I finally got to town after the hour and went to collect it although once I got there they told me that the drug the doctor had prescribed no longer existed so I'd have to call the doctors again and get a different prescription. I walked back home and did as they advised, I was then told by a receptionist (which as per usual the receptionists are never cheerful or polite but very rude 99% of the time) I would get a different prescription but would have to wait 4HOURS for his one, thank god I rang Boots before actually going back out again as they said they hadn't received it so for a THIRD time that day I'd had to call the doctors and ask where my prescription was at which point they told me it had been sent to Kamsons near Stanhope (across the their side of Ashford) so even though it was cold outside and my son isnt particularly well I know I need these antibiotics, I left to walk to the other side of Ashford to collect the prescription only to find out when I reached Kamsons that the receptionist had then changed it and had it sent to boots in the town centre, I am fuming to say the very least as Boots is now shut so after an extremely tiring day of being on some silly wild goose chase I am on my way home without any antibiotics. So as for this question I have told you about my experience and as for suggestions on how they could improve, I'd strongly suggest getting in NEW receptionists who can actually do their job properly and POLITELY seeing as they have been worse then useless today. Not happy I am seriously contemplating changing surgerys.

i think that the phone system should be made better as i phoned for an appointment , was tenth in line waited 20 minutes till i got to 1 then it went off . i had to start all over again. the doc has phoned me three times but still could not get an appointment. when the doctor told me she wanted to see me ,had to wait a fortnight. i think this system should be changed .i was in so much pain at one time ,nearly went to a&e.

I have been a patient at this practice for over 18 years, While I understand that it is extremely busy and now larger due to extensive renovations. it is apparent that patients are being kept away I agree with the patient review comments of the New system of the initial Brief telephone conversation is not helpful, for patients. how are you able to make a proper diagnosis without actually seeing the patient.? also as a result I have had two lots of anbiotics over three months, when I did eventually get to see a doctor he said if symptoms return say you need an appointment Also when following the Brief telephone conversation. you may, qualify for a visit. it is apparent that the doctor isn't listening to you, and is focused on typing notes into the computer. this is most frustrating as you have only the " 10 minute" slot surely they should give you their attention . otherwise this just results in further telephone calls etc. and more visits, making the surgery busier and expensive unwanted prescription items It may be a consideration to go back to traditional way of seeing a patient.

This surgery few good doctors, the rest is just average NHS standard, that is, poor. The recent policy of triaging by phone is annoying, and I personally believe is dangerous. Doctors should not be taking the risk on human lives. My worst experience recently was that I had booked an appointment for something (waiting time: two weeks), and in the meantime something else had developed. I naturally thought to share both things with the doctor within the same session, but I was told my the doctor visiting me that I had to choose only topic, and I was to decide which was more important (without even telling him a bit about the two). It turns out I left out the more serious issue, which represented itself after 2 weeks: it was an anaphylactic shock. Thank God, not of a serious intensity. I find it dramatic that a doctor knew a patient has an issue but would tell them to please book another appointment to discuss it. How do they even sleep at night?
