I had a health care appointment today at Mains Health Centre. This is an outstanding NHS Health Care provider. We have full access to Drs, triage nursing staff, Pharmacy Clinc, reception staff, Phlebotomists and general manager support.
With a recently updated telephone system installed a lot more user friendly and easier to contact heath care providers.
We are very fortunate here in Erskine to have access to this outstanding NHS health care provider
Mr Paul Echlin.
Recently had a major health scare and had to have major surgery. The results telling me there was a problem was on the 8th May and my Surgery took place on the 8th August.
The care I received from the whole of the practice, both from the receptionists and the doctors was totally wonderful and nothing but helpful and kindness. Can’t thank them enough for the way they looked after me, under the very trying circumstances that the are all working under. Also couldn’t praise the hospital staff enough either
The receptionists bar Margaret and a couple others are rude, unhelpful, refuse to pass messages, won’t request a specific medication if you’ve run out and need it that day. A couple receptionists are down right unprofessional. Be more suited to prison wardens. They forget they are dealing with patients who are unwell..
Just before the pandemic hit I moved to the town next to Erskine where the clinic is based. I suffer from mental health problems and had asked if I could stay at the clinic but was told they were at capacity so I had to leave, which I understood. Due to the GP clinic in my new area not taking on new patients during the pandemic I was still technically registered at Mains Clinic and as I need a monthly prescription this meant I had to contact them to ask for this every few weeks. Every time I got in contact with them I would receive attitude from the receptionist, telling me this was the last prescription I was getting and asking why I hadn't left yet. A few months in I had a severe UTI (that I had waited to go away on its own as I didn't want to contact the clinic) and when I eventually phoned because I was in so much pain, the receptionist refused to let me speak to a nurse and told me to take a urine sample to a pharmacy, which I later found out was pointless as they don't test samples. Its gotten to a point where I'm that anxious to call that I've missed medication, and now I just get another family member to call for me because it makes me so anxious to call. Thankfully the ball is rolling and I should be moving clinics as soon as possible. The doctors/nurses have always been professional and friendly, its just a shame the receptionists feel the need to gatekeep medical care and huff down the phone.
I've been a patient here all my life and now that I am an adult, I make my own appointments. And dear God, it's worse than cancelling a contract with your mobile provider. It actually puts me off seeing the doctor because one receptionist is awful at her job. She is so rude and she always tells me to call back to get an appointment or a repeated prescription. I don't have all the time in the world to call at a time that suits her! I really think that the practise should be more advance and create some online booking system... This way I wouldn't need to deal with the receptionist and it'll lighten the load of her job.
On the other hand, the doctors and nurses are great. They always listen to my concerns and solve them as best as they can.
