This surgery has to be one of the best. If you are suffering with a serious, acute ailment then you will be seen the same day almost without fail (although this may with the nurse practitioner) and appointments in general are made within a reasonable time frame. The reception and dispensary staff (bar one young male member of staff who really isn't up to scratch at all) are absolutely brilliant and truly are a credit to the establishment. The GP's I have seen are always very friendly, compassionate and do listen to complaints, however, in my experience, they can be dismissive and, bizarrely, reluctant to pursue any diagnosis that isn't clear-cut, or help alleviate highly bothersome chronic symptoms. I must say that I do not always feel convinced by their conclusions, and do live with unpleasant, unexplained symptoms almost totally unsupported and unmonitored as a result. I have also spotted inaccuracies on my GP records having obtained a copy, some of which have been blatantly entered under false pretences to achieve QOF points. This is very naughty. I have been allocated an acute/emergency appointment with a nurse practitioner on a couple of occasions while I explicitly asked to see, or speak to, a doctor. Each time, these problems both required hospitalisation - one of which resulted in emergency surgery. I am perfectly happy to see whichever practitioner is suited to my particular health complaint, but patients should not be told that they have been allocated an appointment with a doctor while this is in fact not true. The nursing staff are absolutely top notch, you really could not ask for better. They are genuinely lovely and do an absolutely fantastic job. And, as mentioned above, the reception and dispensary staff genuinely are wonderful. Despite complaining about them, the GP's are far from dreadful and we are very lucky to have such a good surgery in the community.
