I have been with Inverurie medical centre for over 32 years.and in that time I have had excellent service. Considering the amount of people they have to attend to, we should thank them all for there hard work in caring for us all After all where would we be without them, many uk doctors are giving up and leaving to other countries. I have nothing but praise for all they have done for me. Yours Truly Hazel Leslie

The new booking system now means you can not only not see a doctor but you can’t talk to one either. The service over the last year has deteriorated dreadfully. If I want to talk to a doctor I have to call early morning (although you usually get cut off or a message saying reception is too busy to take the call and get cut off, at least you don’t have to wait 20 mins in the queue and then get cut off). The new system is a lottery, you hope to get through and if lucky enough after 3, 4 days of trying you can only get access to a doctor the following week on the same day, if this is full you continue with this system, calling every day till your lucky! Not a great way to deal with your patients, obviously not enough doctors. The surgery was going to close then changed their minds to deliver a very poor quality service. Very concerned patient

Suggested improvements
Review this appointment system, especially for elder patients who are told if they can’t get through on the phone then come in early morning to the practice and you may stand a better chance. Not all patients live in Inverurie, so this can be a much longer journey , and are we expected to do this everyday till we get an appointment?

A relative was misdiagnosed by several doctors at the practice, despite physical signs that he was failing and they were very poor at discussing his treatment plan / options with him or his next of kin. After badgering they eventually admitted him to the local hospital for tests to establish the cause of his mystery illness and there they discovered that he had not had a PSA test for prostate cancer, despite being at the age where this should have been a routine line of investigation. Due to the medical staff's inattention to this, once diagnosed the cancer was too advanced to be treatable and he subsequently died in considerable discomfort. We were appalled that this outcome arose from the poor judgement of the doctors when there are national campaigns to highlight the importance of recognising the condition and seeking a cure. We were outraged that a simple routine blood test which should have been done ( and we assumed wrongly had been carried out ) was ignored. We expected that the need to educate doctors to be aware of a major killer of male patients at a particular age was not required, but sadly our experience from Inverurie Medical Group proves that their diagnostic skills are below a reasonable standard.
