I would recommend trying to attend any GP surgery except for the health centre, if at all possible. The service is very overstretched, the receptionists are rude and helpful, the doctors are poorly-informed on many issues (especially mental health issues) and general clerical errors make the simplest of tasks difficult. I've waited over an hour for a booked appointment, had them lose important files or data, was sent a letter telling me off for wasting NHS time when I attended A&E on the advice of 111... I've been given a phone appointment at 12PM, only to have the doctor call at 1.30PM when I'm on the tube (when I phoned back, I was told as I'd missed the call I would need to rebook). My friends have been told that a CBT referral for their depression and anxiety would be a 'waste of everyone's time', had their chronic conditions downplayed or made fun of, and it's just generally about ten years behind where it should be. Really, definitely avoid.
