During Covid 19, I contacted Hove Medical Centre, I asked to speak to a GP, who on call back was Doctor Elyas, who was most helpful, with an amazing bed side manor, I felt so comfortable discussing the issues that I am experiencing!! I have also seen Doctor Elyas in person, she offered me an appointment who gave me a thorough check over. I am now in contact with the her on a regular basis. I would like to say thank you to her for all the kindness and help she has given me.

It is now impossible to book an appointment for any future day as the booking system now only allows for same day appointments to be made. Same day appointments should only be for patients requiring same day treatment for urgent problems. Patients requiring a non urgent doctor's assessment and subsequent treatment should be able to book a week or two in advance to relieve the pressure on same day appointments for those who really need them. The system now used by the surgery means everyone telephoning for an appointment has to be seen the same day whether they need/want to or not. The inevitable consequence of this of course is that each day's morning and afternoon appointments are filled very quickly, quite probably by people who in many cases would happily wait for another week or more if such a booking system was available, whilst those in more urgent need to see a doctor who call later in the morning or afternoon can't be seen. The system used by the surgery gives no thought to the immediate and, in many cases, damaging disruption to patients' employers and/or work colleagues when they have to take a morning or afternoon off work with zero notice given just to see the doctor about a relatively minor ailment which could and should wait for week or two. The whole appointment booking system is not fit for purpose & needs to be urgently reviewed and amended by the partners.

Worst reception and admin staff ever. Rude unhelpful. Never get an appointment that suits you. When you ask to come on a certain day they almost laugh at you. If I could change I would.

I was feeling so unwell on Monday. I just walked into the surgery & requested an emergency appointment. The staff were so helpful & dealt with me swiftly. I was able to see Dr Mills within 20minutes & given medical advice & a prescription. Unfortunately by Wednesday I was worse & again I phoned the surgery. Again the staff listened & gave me an appointment with Dr Mills for 11am. Dr Mills is such a wonderful doctor again listens & never makes you feel that you are wasting her time. She prescribed different medication & said she would phone us later that day to see how I was getting on. As promised she contacted me at 5pm to ensure that the new medication was beginning to work. Every day people complain about doctors & the experiences they encounter I must say that the 30yrs I've been under Hove Medical Centre they have been excellent. Especially Dr Mills. Thank you.
