I left a review in February about the poor system in place and the inability to get appointments. I felt it was only right to leave a review after I had a positive experience. The phone rang first time, I managed to get an appointment 5 days later, with a doctor. I haven't been able to do that at this surgery for 18 months - long may this much improved service continue. The new doctor was efficient, polite and caring. She correctly diagnosed my condition, prescribed the correct treatment (as my issue has now resolved itself within a week) and it was a very quick and hassle free appointment.

The last time I tried to get an appointment with the practice, it took me 103 calls to get through. That's not an exaggeration, that was the actual amount and this is not uncommon. On average I have to make over 50 attempts to just get through to the automated system and then once I do that I am on hold anything from 1 minute to 20 minutes and if you get to 20 minutes it cuts you off and tells you to come into the surgery, which is ridiculous as a parent with a full time job. You can only book an appointment for the same day and you will never get to see a doctor even if you request it, only a nurse practitioner (which is no disrespect to them, but they are not GP's). Even when my 1 year old was poorly I insisted to see a doctor and was told none were available. We were made to see a nurse practitioner who said he had an ear infection. After he became worse we went to A&E where a doctor told us it was actually bacterial tonsillitis and needed completely different antibiotics to the ones we were given by the nurse practitioner. The staff there are lovely and the nurse practitioners are only doing their best so I have no complaints there, but getting an appointment is beyond a joke and I imagine forces a lot of patients to turn up at an already overcrowded A&E when they just need an appointment with their GP. I understand the practice lost a few doctors at the same time but a year later you would think this would be sorted. No GP practice should be as poorly ran as this and you should always be able to book in to see a doctor!
