After 10 years at this surgery I have had enough. I am not a patient that frequents the surgery, only going when I need help with symptoms I cannot control with over the counter products. Given that you cannot get a face to face appointment at this surgery you have to rely on the doctors listening to you when you describe your symptoms. I have recently tried to explain my symptoms only to have them ignored and the doctor deciding it is all to do with an existing condition which it was not. If that wasn't bad enough that doctor then contacts my consultant with his wrong assumptions resulting in my medication being unnecessarily reviewed by the consultant without discussion with me. I now have to speak with my consultant to try and rectify the situation.

Suggested improvements
Listen to your patients, they know their own bodies, don't make assumptions and if in doubt invite them in for a face to face appointment.

So on December the 1st the surgery is changing to a system that is managed outside the surgery. Supposedly you can make appointments, request repeat prescriptions and contact the surgery if there are any enquiries. The staff do not know how it is going to work and have advised patients to use the old method of ordering repeat prescriptions before the new system comes in. Sadly and very inconveniently the old website does not work anymore so now the only way of ordering repeat prescriptions or making appointments or contacting anyone at the surgery is to phone. Needless to say you cannot get through as all of the patients are doing this. Well done Highglades!

Although it's difficult to get an appointment, I have still managed to get great care and to the bottom of my issues within 4 months of registering after going round in circles with other surgeries. I find the staff mostly very helpful all across the board ranging from receptionists through to nurses and Locums, and especially the diabetic clinic.
