Trying to get through is “a joke” and if I have to listen to how they take COVID-19 seriously one more time I swear I will pull my hair out!! They definitely need a better quicker system for making appointments. And wouldn’t it be nice to actually see a doctor for once, not everything can be dealt with over the phone. I actually find myself putting off ringing doctors because it is so annoying trying to get through. I have been in agony with my foot for over a month, but just limping on.

Suggested improvements
Just make it easier to get an appointment, I don’t know if they need more staff on the phones, but I have previously tried over 20 times to get through, very frustrating

It is quite a good and modern Surgery, where I and my now deceased father were registered for many years. The receptionists were quite helpful and there was a range of staff and facilities there. Most of the Doctors were OK, and we dealt extensively with the Senior Partner, at the time. The previous Senior Partner, had a tendancy to avoid getting involved in certain situations, though he is now long in retirment. We do NOT have particularly fond memories of the previous Senior Partner. The Current Senior Partner is OK, though one has to be a little bit careful- he treated us with some dignity though there were frequent occasions when he did not assist/ was somewhat unreasonable. Our principal though not only gripe for some time was the appointment system, and how hard it became to obtain appointments, but on balance this is not a bad Surgery- recommended with certain reservations. Clean, modern and most of the then Doctors weren't too bad, but be a little bit careful

The telephonists are rude. When you work in healthcare you need to have empathy and treat patients with respect. There is one particular person that is extremely rude and has no right to speak to anyone like that, making decisions on your behalf. They are not medically trained to advise you whether you need to see the GP or not. I dont need to discuss my medical issues with them. They are trained to assess the nature of the call and that's it. Suggest additional customer service training. Working in healthcare for over 16 years myself. I know how precious the GPs, nurses time is and would not waste their time by calling for an appointment if it was unnecessary!!! Some of the reception staff are pleasant. Overall a really good surgery. Some staff need additional training.

Having a chronic painful condition where some days I struggle in even getting out of bed,it’s very important to have an empathetic understanding GP,and I have to admit that I’m very fortunate to have one.,he’s very patient with me and feels my pain and does all he can to help. For me,it’s God’s blessing, and I wouldn’t even think of moving from Herschel. The receptionists are very polite and courteous too which is like icing on the cake.

Long waiting, not definite and correct indications and the appointment schedule/queue is not clear. Questioning also the hygene and correctness of standard health visit. Not recommended
