I was a patient of Dr Williams before his retirement and when he left I approached the reception as to who was best to help me they recommended Dr linsky. My first appointment with her and she left me in the waiting room for 45 minutes before I got up and left. On the second appointment she realised her mistake and saw me within 5 minutes.we discussed my health and medication and she enquired about my quinine sulphate tablets asking if I needed them as they were trying to save money on the budget, I said I did need them and my medication was approved. On the following visit I was left in the waiting room again and walked out again. I find it strange that I'm diagnosed with adhd yet they still did not understand why. I went back to Dr linsky a forth time to ask for a referral to the cmht as the surgery was not helping me, she agreed and said I would hear from them in a few months. Time passed and I finally received a letter from cmht saying they were refusing me an appointment as the surgery hadn't supplied any additional information when asked. I took the letter to the surgery were they told me the cmht hadn't contacted them and they had no knowledge of this. I asked to see Dr linsky but was told she was on sick leave. The surgery told me it would be rectified and I would receive another appointment with the cmht within a few months again. I went back to the surgery a couple of months later to see Dr linsky to find out we're I stood but was told she was still on sick leave even though she wasn't and she was now working from park road surgery. I decided that I needed to see another Dr, so I made an appointment with Dr mangat. I told him my reasons for wanting a referral on the grounds that I wished to speak to someone about the possibility of being autistic. He completely ignored me and thought I should be referred because he didn't like my medication. I agreed purely because I just wanted the referral but already knew there was nothing wrong with my medication. At the cmht we had a long chat where all my meds were approved and I was given a diagnosis of autism, the cmht told me it is autism and that they would refer me to aaa for a complete diagnosis to clarify this. They sent me a letter afterwards stating this saying my meds are fine but will need to be reassessed after the autistic diagnosis. I went back to Dr mangat to discuss this and once again he ignored what I was saying and seemed more interested in my medication, he asked me why I was taking vitamin d3 which baffled me as he is the doctor and all the information was there for him to read. Straight away he said I didn't need it, which baffled me more as moments before he had no idea why I was taking it. Dr mangat decided there and then with no blood test or real reasoning that he was gonna remove it from my meds. I was shocked but I was even more shocked when he moved straight onto another one of my meds and said I didn't need that either. I stopped him and told him he had no grounds as he hadn't read my medical file and that he didn't even know why the meds were prescribed. He thought he was being clever and told me that the vitamin d was for seasonal depression, which was obvious and made me wonder why he asked me in the first place. He then went on to say it's just a mild bit of depression for a very short time in the depths of winter. I felt insulated my depression has never been described as mild and lasts from October to March every year, maybe he should have read my file before he opened his mouth. I got up at this point and left the appointment feeling insulated. In the following week I collected my repeat prescription on to find he actually had removed two of my meds. I was just about to increase my vit d as it was Autumn at this time and found myself without any at a time when it was needed. I went back to the surgery and demanded it be put back on my prescription immediately and told them Dr mangat was to have nothing to do with my medical file. My meds were put back on my prescription at this point. I decided a different doctor was definitely needed so I saw Dr Kelly, best appointment I'd had in 2 years but then she brought up my vit d again. I knew straight away this wasn't down to her but it was Dr mangat interfering having wrote a note in my file even though his knowledge is limited at best. We discussed my vit d and I explained the situation and left with all my meds. My next appointment was with Dr Brown at the beginning of January right slap bang in the depths of my depression when I wanted to do was sleep and be left alone. I explained to her that I was depressed, anxious and suffering from pain to which she said nothing, she didn't inquire as to if I was ok or safe or if I was suicidal or at risk from self harming. No help was given, no telephone numbers for the crisis team or suicide prevention line were offered in fact all she did was start another debate about my vit d She seemed adamant that I didn't need it as was overly keen to take it away. I said no and she said she would like me to take a blood test. I'm not understanding how they can be so sure I don't need them before a blood test and the blood test just seems like there now creating an excuse to justify there mistake. Vitamin d was prescribed to me as the result of blood tests and trying to take it from me during a depressive episode is disgusting, if I was psychotic would you take my anti psychotic tablets. I've other far worse problems to worry about that are more important than the so called opinion of Dr mangat.

From around 1999 till 2017 Heatherside Surgery was run by Dr Williams and his wife Mrs Williams, and provided an excellent service. However, since the combination of three practices the service has deteriorated badly. There seems to be a continuous change of doctors and surgery staff. Urgent appointments are no longer available in Heatherside, not even for children. Waiting times for appointments and tests are between two and four weeks if you want to see your chosen doctor and not even at Heatherside. The option to simply walk to your local surgery is no longer available. Instead the patients are offered a telephone consultation. I have had no choice but to use it twice this summer. In both cases it satisfied my needs and therefore I give my review 1 star. Why change something that was working perfectly well?

My family, and chronically ill daughter have been cared for and supported by Heatherside for the last 12 years and we think they offer an exceptional service and level of care. I would not hesitate to recommend them to others.

I think the surgery strikes about the right balance for the local community. Access to medical staff is generally straightforward, although I can't comment on house calls. The atmosphere is relaxed yet quietly efficient and, with a major hospital only a mile away, there is no delay when there is a need for further expertise.
