I have been a patient here for many years and have found the surgery to be fortunate enough to have many excellent GPs. Getting an appointment with my own GP on the day is usually possible, which is fantastic, and if not there is usually a suitable alternative. They insist on you seeing your own GP as much as possible to ensure continuity of care which is excellent. The staff on reception are helpful and efficient and there is a really caring approach towards patients. I couldn't wish for a better quality of services and really appreciate all the hard work that goes into running a surgery so well.

This surgery is excellent. All staff, nurses and Doctors are all very helpful. It is a problem sometimes getting an appointment, but this is entirely understandable and I can not see how things can be improved. My doctor, Dr Clarke, never rushes you and takes time to explain things to you.

Having difficulty in making appointments by phone is always frustrating .However if the number of calls awaiting a reply was reported to callers and where the call is in the list this might alleviate the frustration of patients wanting to see a doctor.

I have always found all of the staff who work at The Hawthorns extremely helpful & efficient. The ladies on reception & who book appointments are warm & friendly & I have never experienced any problems booking an appointment to see my own GP a few days in advance. My husband recently used the emergency appointment service without any problems. I feel very lucky to be a patient here when I hear about the problems my family & friends have at other practices.

Trying to get an appointment at this practice is an absolute nightmare. They have introduced online appointment booking which is useless - when you search for appointments even two weeks in the future nothing appears! No consideration is given to the fact the people work full time, often out of the immediate area, so it is unrealistic to expect people to stay at home and phone at 8.30 in the hope of getting one of the few appointments released on the day. A lot of friends and family are registered at practices where online appointments are available within a few days or, for the none urgent cases or concerns, a Doctor call back service is available. The Hawthorns really needs to review its practices to bring it in line with other. If it hadn't have been for the care from two excellent Doctors within this practice then we would have moved a long time ago.
