'ON-THE-DAY' APPOINTMENT RATIONING SYSTEM IS UNFAIR TO PATIENTS IN FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT! This morning (10/04) I started dialling the Practice number from 8:30 for a total of 15 minutes and 56 re-dials before I got to the recorded message. I was then put on hold for another 20 minutes while they dealt with the 14 people in front of me. Then, before I could react and press the keypad to request an appointment (I was on my mobile), the system threw me into the 'please hold' category, where I waited a further 10 minutes with the phone ringing, at which point someone pick it up and hang it on me straight away. How can the Practice justify the 45 minutes of my working time that you made me waste for no good reason? The appointment rationing system used by this Practice might have been practical 20 years ago, but it is simply not fit for purpose for someone in full-time employment. This is the ONLY practice I have ever been registered where they refuse to issue advance appointments over the phone - other than your own convenience, I cannot understand why you cannot work like any other modern GP Practice in the land!
Have had the same issue with appointments. Tried three days running to get an appointment for my son. Number 15 in the queue at 8.30, hanging on the phone for 25 minutes to be told each day that no appointments are left. I am partially sighted and can’t jump in a car to drive up and book personally and it is a 30 minute walk! And stupidly I am told that I am unable to pop around the corner to the smaller surgery to book even though they must use the same computer system. The system is ridiculous and is totally stupid for anyone who works or has a child at school. I am still trying to get my son seen, at this rate he will have to miss school on the off chance of getting an appointment. Ludicrous.......
Appointment system is absolutely rediculous. If you phone when they open at 8.30am you are always number 15 in the queue and when you do eventually get through 45 mins after being on hold you are told there are no appointments and you are not able to book any for another day. To have any chance of getting an appointment you have to physically go down there at 8.15am and queue up to book an appointment in person which is completely inpractical for any working person or with a young child or if you are so ill you cant get out of bed. You have better luck being seen by going straight to A&E.
